London Saints - Big Saints Quiz, Thursday 13th October

Well done London Saints for hosting a very good and fun evening last night. The excellent food provided by the Casino was probably worth at least £10 per head anywhere else so the £5.00 pp entry to the event was a bargain. The only problem was that 3 of my team were in their 20's, thus any Saints questions before the mid 90's were met with a blank stare. We finished in the relegation positions - a gallant 9th out 10 teams. As said, a good evening. -
And Lloyd James' big money move from Orient...

We have a team entered - me, two of the kids and one of their buddies. -
Admittedly it was a few years ago but I couldn't believe the amount of so-called graffiti (ie vandalism) in and around Milan's city centre. Returning some months later we were surprised that it was still there. Hope its now squeaky clean in readiness for the sophisticated Saints tourists....

Managers now refer to what used to be the Team as 'this Group'. Every player who is transferred claims that 'it was a no-brainer' when he heard so and so was interested'
-
Nearly everyone uses "myself" - awful - what happened to "me" ??

The Times ran a piece this morning headlined 'Top ten transfer targets remaining in this window'. First up : Fonte - the Times commenting '....Soton have grown used to losing their best players but may have contributed to their captain wanting to leave by offering him only a small increase in wages, allowing other clubs to sense his dissatisfaction at the proposal.' Likelihood of move : 9/10. Then comes JayRod, the Times commenting '...the forward is keen to move on loan to a mid-table team where he can play regularly. WBA are seen as a more attractive option than Hull who are also interested.' Likelihood of move : 10/10 Others include the usual suspects...Bony/Berahino/Sissoko/Remy

Remind me who has signed Mahrez ? My point is when Arsenal and Lpool et al come knocking our players can't wait to pack their bags. Good for Leicester for hanging on to Vardy and Chilwell.
-
I know we can't compete with the Yanks, Chinese and Thais for the really big bucks but wouldn't it be a shot in the arm for us fans if for once, just once, our club told the cherry pickers to **** off when they come calling for our best talent season after season. Leicester have shown how it's done with Vardy and now Chilwell. I can't blame anyone for having a sense of doom and gloom this season.
-
But he hits the nail on the head.
-
Sitting in front of the back four perhaps, and spraying those long raking passes, a la Schneiderlin who grew into that role?
-
Class will come though in the end.
-
He didn't want to leave us in the first place, his fee kept the club going before Marcus finally stepped in. Played well tonight but can't see him returning and why would he when he's one of the first names on the Bompey teamsheet.
-
Stunning - nothing else comes close on the jaw-dropping scale.
-
Strange how our often opponents seem to have a player returning from injury whose first game back is against Saints, and subsequently plays a decisive part in our defeat. Add Carroll to Sturridge's name.
-
Exact opposite to you - got my ticket but now unable attend. Problem is I live in London and now too late to arrange a hand-over.

Random Ex- Academy Player Transfer News no-one will care about...

Watched Sam Argent (left Saints 2011) playing for the mighty Hartley Wintney in a Combined Counties league game versus Redhill in front of about 85 other die-hards. HW thrashed the Reds 5-0 and sit atop of the league. -

Posted by Fitzhugh fella Jan 13th 2013: " Saints sign Isaac Nehemie from Sparsholt College Football Academy. Nehemie was released by Palace last summer but following his enrolment at Sparsholt he caught the eye of Saints and has signed a full-time scholarship arrangement up to 2014. He is a left-sided player." Touted to be one to watch after Shaw and Targett, he went to Villa in 2014 and has now ended up at the mighty Merstham of the Ryman Premier. In case you don't know Merstham it's just north of Redhill in Surrey. He is only 19 and has time to come back but..... -
Thanks Morgan - you've been a pleasure to watch. Good luck and thanks for your loyalty.

I've been banging on to my neighbours in the Chapel about the over watering of the pitch for a couple of seasons now. No matter how much rain we have had, the sprinklers are always on before the game and at half time. Ruins the ht relay too...

Yes, thanks Angelman - thought I had the link sorted, never was much good at that sort of thing

Further to St Armstrong's thread, I enjoyed reading this on the tube this morning. Nothing we didn't know before but Saints don't often make the City pages... http://www.cityam.com/.../saints-go-marching-profitability
