  1. Horrid, uninspiring, awful - sure there's a miniscule stripe but the effect looking from the terraces will be all red. I like tradition, and a SFC tradition is the stripes.
  2. Thanks Minty, I enjoyed reading it.
  3. What a fabulous day and season. The highs outweighing the lows for the 2nd year running - the bus keeps motoring. Nice to see the 12,000 fans, who couldnt be bothered to support the team after relegation, come back for the glory.
  4. Nobody desevers criticism after last night's terrific performance, least of all Chaplow who did exactly what he does best... harried Posh to death and covered every inch of the pitch. And he's not even 100 per cent fit. We enjoyed our London Road experience, a 'proper' football ground in the old style and as someone else has mentioned friendly and helpful stewards. Long may Posh and the Barnsleys of this world punch above their weight.
  5. Its just a minority who get on Guly's case. The same morons who need a boo-boy every season otherwise they wont be happy. Guly's scored some important goals for us and should be supported/applauded rather than jeered. Great result for the boys today, well done Adkins to get the team focused again after Saturday.
  6. I dont mind if Pompey win - COYR
  7. One 'starlet' in, another starlet out. Must be galling for Doble to recognise the club doesnt think he's got it. Hope he proves us wrong and comes back better for it.
  8. Saints seem meat and drink to struggling teams - Bristol x 2 and Donnie = 9 lost points. We should be out of sight if we had won the so called 'easy' games. With all their struggles and lack of players expect Brighton to do well too.
  9. Seeing Jack doing his best, but struggling, at RB, and then watching Aaron Martin warming up made me wonder if Martin perhaps could have 'done a Smalling' and slotted in at RB, being a natural defender rather than a midfielder etc. Andy Reid's 'shorts' were hilarious, never seen any wider/bigger - half the Forest team could have got in there with him.
  10. Nothing better than tailgating in the car park a few hours before ko, grabbing a few beers from the coolbox whilst engaging in some lighthearted banter with away fans and having a friendly kickabout with them before tucking in to some prime beef off the bbq. Hear the Millwall fans enjoy a get together before and after the game, and they always bring their own bottles.
  11. Pleased for Rickie tonight. The Leeds game seemed to pass him by and Barnsley wasnt much better - leaving me wondering whether he might be too immobile/ponderous for this league. What an answer !!
  12. David Luker was a good guy, hadnt realised he had left. We were one of those with 'problem' season tickets, which were issued starting at Match 9, and I was looking forward to talking to him to sort them out. He almost went to Everton a few years ago - any idea where he has gone ?

    Beattie

Always liked Beatts and he was very good for Saints - and vice versa. Appreciate he's injured at present but when fit would have thought he would he would walk into the Rangers team considering how dire Scottish football is. Never understood why half decent players -Ledley and Hooper come to mind- want to go to such a footballing backwater - 3 or 4 Old Firm games, an early exit from Champions League and thats the season over and done with.
  14. They probably will but no thanks to Forecast. Whats the betting he will only make their bench....
  15. My Mother on August 9th and then Markus a few hours later.
  16. I knew he was off sooner than later this week when Nigel was being interviewed yesterday on R5L 'Sportsweek' and refused to confirm or deny to that annoying little **** Garry Richarson that Oxo was off to the Arse. His silence spoke a thousand words.
  17. Gents - one of the funniest threads I have read in a long time. Brightened up my day no end, keep up the good work..
  18. Very enjoyable as well as being very funny - recommend it to anyone who can get to the Nuffield Studio tomorrow. COYR.
  19. Shades of Killer perhaps ?
  20. Me too - nothing to do with the fact that we never win on Sky of course. Mind you we never win on opening day anyway, so roll on Game 2.
  21. Is it really 8 years ago ? 7th January 2003 - BBC reports:- Southampton have revealed they are close to signing 23-year-old Argentine winger Federico Arias. Gordon Strachan has not disclosed the fee paid to Arias' current club Velez Sarsfield, but he confirmed that the wideman had agreed a three-year deal. "(Overseas scout) Terry Cooper has watched him a few times and thinks he can help our squad," said Strachan. "He can play on either flank which will give us good balance. "He looks a useful player and is very quick and hopefully he will make us stronger." His nickname is the Torpedo - and it is easy to see why Southampton's overseas scout Terry Cooper It is believed that Arias will mainly be in the squad to challenge Fabrice Fernandes for his role, but he could also play up front. Cooper said: "He has two excellent feet. I watched him three times and could not tell which was his best. "He is a great crosser of the ball too. He gets his head up and picks people out. "His nickname is the Torpedo - and it is easy to see why. He is explosive over 20 metres." Arias, who speaks some English, has an Italian passport so Saints will not need to apply for a work permit. The Argentine season finished in November but he has been training hard and could figure for Saints at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

    Hammond

He was the real MoM against MKD. Generally very impressive since the new year and its good to see him leading the team from the front. A good captain, leave him be.
  23. Butterfield has been a pleasant surprise - signed as a stop gap after FR's injury and has been a consistent performer all season with some excellent crosses. Deserves a new contract imo.
  24. what a party at SMS on Saturday!!
