Saint Charlie Posted 18 July, 2009 Share Posted 18 July, 2009 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/championship/newcastleunited/5178207/Alan-Shearer-to-give-Newcastle-starlet-Nile-Ranger-his-chance-in-relegation-dogfight.html Found this article from April. Ex Saints Academy player, showing potential. The article goes a bit more in depth about the "problems" which led to him being released by the club. Bit of a catch 22, he was/is obviously a talent but you can't let people take the ****!
dignified_blunderer Posted 18 July, 2009 Share Posted 18 July, 2009 Bumped into him once in Wood Green Morrissons - maybe two years ago - I think just before or after we released him and he was looking at joining some London clubs. He spotted me wearing my saints rugby shirt and bounded over saying he doesnt see many saints fans in Wood Green. He was really nice and seemed a lot more exited to see me than I was him! dubai_phil Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 Nile Ranger is a silly billy And 6ft 2in and pace to burn..... Shame he was a total twonk, could have been useful this season, a big lump up front with pace.... Shame he showed a distinct lack of brain to go with it! Will likely get a chance in the CCC unless they get yet another manager in giving us the chance to have another round of one's that got away threads later in the year :-#
ottery st mary Posted 19 July, 2009 Share Posted 19 July, 2009 Wish him well..pity not at Saints...You hope this sort of person CAN turn a corner... Even if he does you then see the scallies and nightmare agents/hangers on surround them and lead them up the garden path.....If only he could have been OUR next superstar but super clean.... Looked good for England U/19s..
Saint Charlie Posted 31 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 31 August, 2009 This guy has just come off after 85mins to a standing ovation at St james Park. Looks a great prospect, good luck to him if he has turned his life around.
Charlie Wayman Posted 31 August, 2009 Share Posted 31 August, 2009 And 6ft 2in and pace to burn..... Will likely get a chance in the CCC unless they get yet another manager in giving us the chance to have another round of one's that got away threads later in the year :-# Unfortunately, they all get away! I wonder why we bother with the Academy as the succession of idiots that mange our so-called firts team squad always seem to look elsewhere. It is like any other business really, companies always believe that new recruits are always going to be better than promoting people from inside; external consultants are always better informed than internal specialsts and so on. Amazing really that management not only supports this crass nonsense but actually believe it to be true. On the other hand my old grandmother oft used to say "Better the devil you know than the one you don't!" Then again, my old grandmother would have made a much better fist of running a Third Division football club than the bunch of comedians in charge of Saints right now

Torres Posted 31 August, 2009 Share Posted 31 August, 2009 Unfortunately, they all get away! I wonder why we bother with the Academy as the succession of idiots that mange our so-called firts team squad always seem to look elsewhere. Good point. I can't believe that nobody who has come through our academy has ever gone on to play first team football. It's a wonder we bother with it at all and it must cost a packet to run. If only we could get some of the kids through and play them for our first team or sell them on to rich Prem clubs for massive profits then maybe our Academy would make sense. As it is though.... Saint Bones Posted 31 August, 2009 Share Posted 31 August, 2009 Well good luck to the lad - and echoing the above sentiments I hope he hass his head on track. Sounds like Saints did all they could for him... but if you bite the hand that feeds

SaintRobbie Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 Looked good for the Toon last night I thought. But, give me an experienced striker anyday to a developing kid in this league.
Sussex Saint Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 He's quality. Seen him a few times playing for the Toon. He came over and chatted to his mates in the crowd at the Palace game the other week.. Seems a top bloke..
eelpie Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 Then again, my old grandmother would have made a much better fist of running a Third Division football club than the bunch of comedians in charge of Saints right now That statement would have made sense last season. Not now.
Junior Mullet Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 Always reminded me a LOT of Kenwyn Jones when I saw him play. He's a quality young player and I am still gutted we lost him, regardless of the reason.
saints1988 Posted 1 September, 2009 Share Posted 1 September, 2009 What did he actually do to be thrown out of the club? But must agree looked a very handy player the other night.

Is that a joke? We've sold loads of young talented players that have come through our academy, and alot of them are playing today! Unfortunately almost all at a higher level and not for us...
