unionhotel Posted 30 July, 2009 Share Posted 30 July, 2009 Whilst I appreciate and acknowledge that, according to the many posts on here, that both Rasisk and Saganowski are keen to leave Southampton, is that the official line? Both, I understand, are still under contract and can't go anywhere unless SFC say so. Therefore, even though Stern John has left, is there any real sense of urgency and need to panic? Most posters have criticised existing players for lack of motivation, poor performances and lacklustre approaches to the game. Is it any wonder with recent events? Everyone seems to agree that Pardew can get the best out of players and it could be that we already have the makings of a good team. Proper management and coaching together with footballing nous could, quite possibly, be having a profound effect on our players already. Let's just give them all a chance and leave it to the professionals.
NickG Posted 30 July, 2009 Share Posted 30 July, 2009 Saga wants to go. Rasiak has said wants to play at higher level, for the right club, but is happy to stay here if its not that.

NickG Posted 30 July, 2009 Share Posted 30 July, 2009 its what he said in interview, said he didn't want to go last season etc - all the right things in case he doesn't get a move. tbf against Hearts was the hardest I remember seeing him work
Stu Man Do Posted 30 July, 2009 Share Posted 30 July, 2009 I see it much the same, I feel however that Saga can jog the **** on over his last time refusal to play and he looks out of shape in the pre season games Ive seen. I cant imagine his best effort is in it if he stays unfortunately. Rasiak on the other hand would, I'm sure still put the ball in the back of the net realising he can get a move in January when he's nearly out of contract and if he plays well. His wages were cited as the main reason Watford didnt move for him this summer.

South City Si Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 In reality we can't realsie both of them until we get replacements. Patterson should not be a first choice striker at the moment, let alone the main one. We need 2 experienced men up front before any of them go. Chez Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 once these two have sorted out their lives then AP will kjnow where he stands, have the available transsfer funds and wages available to get who he wants. I know we want our line up sorted, but it has to be prudent to sell before you buy. With a bit of luck the minute the contract is singed we can unveil their replacements. These are very interesting times. Enjoy it.

Saintjersey Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 They are both under contract still with us, so neither is definately leaving. However, if the right offer comes in for either or both of them it would seem they would be offski.

yorkie Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 Hilarious that Southampton Echo poll shows that over half Saints fans think we need defenders! To be honest when the poll was done we had no recognised full backs and one fit central defender! So to start in defence by building fromthe back was inevitable. We have always needed a goalscorer - that's been our problem for 2/3 seasons!

We desperately need a right and left midfielder a central defender and 2 strikers.

Attacking play and exciting strikers was the Saints style and what took us to the Premiership and Cup Finals. Yes, this must be rectified in AP's long term plan. Stu Man Do Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 Am I the only one thinkng that 1million for the pair is an absolute joke? I appreciate they are in the last year of their contract but they are what? 30 years old and still have it inthem to be effetive at this level. Is a million quid worth what we'd lose from the team by selling them?

SNSUN Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 The speculation on here is that both seem destined for the CCC in a joint deal to Swansea. Whether that's true or not, I'd be a damn shame. They would be immense in this league, and finding players to replace them would be no small task. In Pardew we trust I guess, but I'd certainly like to see efforts made to make Rasiak feel this is his home!
Bailey Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 Paulo Sousa has today confirmed in an interview for the BBC that he has held talks with both Rasiak and Saga, but he is yet to decide whether or not he will make an official bid for the duo. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/8177165.stm If we could keep hold of one of them, then that would be great, but we really are light in numbers up-front, and could certainly do with a couple of additions. Hopefully Pardew is well aware of this and is doing his utmost to sign a forward or two!
sotonswan Posted 31 July, 2009 Share Posted 31 July, 2009 Well although this 'Swansea interest' now does seem to be confirmed, I'm still firmly of the mind "I'll believe it when I see it". These two are still outside Swansea's max wage of 8k/wk. Far more likely Swans players may come the other way next week. 10 squad members to be culled next week. Mostly minor names, but possibly some first teamers as well - e.g. butler, bauza, monk.

Professor Posted 1 August, 2009 Share Posted 1 August, 2009 Saga is worth around 500k but Raz has got to be worth 1m+ IMO. If Saga isn't bothered then I don't mind him going but Raz would be a big loss. If I was AP I'd be kissing his arse to stay. According to the Echo there is an offer for Rasiak, with AP saying the Club are currently deciding how to proceed. So perhaps it is the amount of Arse Kissing that is being worked on. With John having left against AP's expectation, maybe he is trying change Rasiak's mind, but it will take money money money to do that.
