yellow&blue Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 I must have been on another planet as I never realised that Matt Le Tissier had written his autobiography. How long had that been in the making and has anyone else been involved in compiling it at all? I noticed the announcement at the game yesterday that he will be signing copies of his book at the megastore on 20th August. Should be a good turn out and a chance to show our appreciation again for our legend!
scott_saints Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 When's it released? I do remember it mentioned here at the beginning of the year and then it went quiet. Can't wait

saintwarwick Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 The advert at SMS last said August 20th. Yep, Waterstones have it advertised as eight days until release but if you pre order, it will be three quid less. I would rather pay more just for the man to sign a copy. doggface Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 Matt wrote it with Graham Hiley. Has a very intersting story about the moment his england career was finished by hoddle. Rupert gets a bashing.

'I got off the train just before london, which was quite difficult as it didn't actually stop there' !!! There is an apparently very funny play based on his War Diaries on up in London at the moment. Might try to see it before it closes. The great man was very old when I eventually got to meet him. He was an utter, utter genius.

beatlesaint Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 how much will it be on the day? Well if its a signing at the megastore you can virtually guarantee that will be the RRP of £18.99. Book signings usually are at full price cos you get the increased value of someones signature in it (I got Charlton Heston's autobiography a few years ago, signed, and of course now he has passed away the value of the book increases) Amazon is cheapest at the mo for £10..........so get it virtually half price and get MLT to sign it another time (at an evening match for instance as he is usually there when not on Sky)

Anyone on here read it?? it's a book written from a fan's view - here is someone's comments; 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: A fan's celebration of footballing genius, 11 May 2005 By A Customer When I ordered this book I wondered if it would be the definitive biography of Le Tiss, or whether I should wait for the big man's autobiography to come out in the autumn. In fact, it turns out to be a superb emotional journey of Saints fandom, written intelligently by an author whose book on Euro 2004 I had also enjoyed. It covers the basic story of Le Tiss's life, but concentrates more on what his performances and presence in the team meant to the author: the ups and downs (and constant near-relegations) of being a Southampton fan. Great to read on the train on the way to St Mary's! Highly recommended

hasper57saint Posted 12 August, 2009 Share Posted 12 August, 2009 Why shouldn't MLT have an autobigraphy? Jordan has three and never read or written a word of them! I'll be having a look at Matt's.
