Kayne McLaggon

Does anyone know how he is recovering from his injury from last season and expected date he may be considered for selection?

Looked a very bright prospect for the brief time that we saw him and had some much needed pace and strength on the ball as well. Given Lallana's star is rapidly fading and question marks over Thomson we badly need McLaggon back and to interchange with Mellis if possible who also showed some nice touches and movement yesterday. First half we were far more productive down the left than the right where we were to casual and lacked purpose. I think McLaggon can do a far better job.

Given up on Lee Holmes who seems to be collecting more sick notes than Darren Powell use to - what's the ongoing saga with Holmes?

Think his reputation is growing by not playing, being built up to a level he may not be able to achieve instantly.

when will we learn

I take it you don't know the answer then Mike? Kayne looks an exciting prospect and the little I have seen from him he seems to have the ability to address the pace and imagination issues many have spoken about.

Strange, I thought it was Kyle McLaggon.

Shows how little I know these days.

Hopefully one plus side of his injury could be that he was spared the over-exposure and pain of last season, and with careful handling this year by professionals his development can procede in a way that he can become the finished article much quicker

Kayne's profile page on the OS says he was injured in February and is out until September.

But the Injuries & Suspension page on the OS is more pessimistic predicting a return in October/November.

No mention of Lee Holmes on that page.

This thread also got me thinking about Jack Boyle. He signed on a short-term contract ( until June '09). He was apparently offered a new permanent contract in March, when Parry Paterson and Mills were but nothing confirming that on his OS profile page. On the HCDAJFU listing he is in the Academy Squad (no number) list, with his contract not yet renewed. he OS however, lists him No.30.

Saw him in the second-half of the Cheltenham friendly and thought he looked quite useful.

Kayne ruptured his Achilles in February. Curtis Davies ruptured his in March. I ruptured mine on 30th June. I have just been discharged after 8 weeks and have started physio, but I only have to worry about returning to normality (walking, golf, 5-a-side maybe). These guys have to return to professional sport which is a different kettle of fish. Curtis Davies was expected to be out until October but managed an hour of football at the end of July and as far as I know is back to normal already (5 months approximately). Kayne obviously hasn't progressed that quickly, but I think the OS has him targetting September for a comeback. ATRs are a terrible injury to get over - especially for professional athletes. Physical repair aside, they have the mental aspect of being 100% confident that it will not rerupture during training or a game. I look forward to seeing him again soon.

your slow 19c

I started a thread a few weeks ago (early August) about Kayne

Its good to see he has started training again, I was reallly impressed with him as a player, was soory whren he sustaines his archillies injury. far better than dyer in my opinion and will be an exciting addition to the team once fully fit and maintains his potential.

The futures bright the futures red and white

Just to recap he has started training again and is a good couple of weeks into his training,

Thanks Draganov and apologies I didn't see your thread as I was away at the time and not been back long. Seeing are lack of creativity and strength on the ball on Saturday it just set me thinking and pleased to here he is doing well - provided I am not bigging up one of our current players!
