Mr X Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Just wanted general feedback on wether this is a good service thats worth the £4 a month charge? is it money well spent or better off using other sources Thanks
Saint_Jonny Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 If your not in range of radio solent and need to hear the commentary on a saturday (as I do, or i'd die a frustrated death) then its definitely worth it. The vid highlights are usually 2mins more than you get from the BBC and now and then you get super extended highlights and the odd full game. Interviews nearly always go up on the OS as text days before they appear on the player however and this is a bit annoying.
eurosaint Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I reckon it's pretty good but (if you can afford it) you are obviously better paying £34.99 up front rather than £48.00 by monthly instalments !!
Mr X Posted 21 October, 2009 Author Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Thanks I am in range of solent, its just frustrating how short we get for our matches on the football league show and meridian news too! coverage on the oldham game was ten times less than the amount of time spent on the pompey game...... we literally got five seconds
Rut Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 As Jonny Lewis (above) said... If you are abroad it is worth the money to be able to listen to the Solent commentary and see extended highlights of each game. Especially if you live in a country that the BBC block a lot of stuff from (ie the USA). Hopefully one day a full live video stream of each game will be available. Perhaps just to non-UK users. I'm sure quite a lot of us overseas fans would cough up more than the 40 quid a year for that.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I signed up for the radio as based in Glasgow I cant listed to it for free. Find the highlights useful and they are normally available 24 hours or so after each game. I pay £4 a month as intend to cancel in May when season ends. Saint Fan CaM Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 Yes, its worth it - remote from Solent area match commentary and at the moment it's the only way to get decent match highlights when the team are playing away form home. IMO I think it should come free if you've got a ST though.
RonManager Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I think it is exelent for the money asked. Apart from the Saints stuff, you can listen to local commentary on nearly all matches. Last night I listened to the first half of Bristol city v Plymouth on the Plymouth local station and the second ahlf on Bristol. i listened to teh Leeds match on yorkshire which as brilliant as the commentatior and pundit were getting resll ****e doff with each other. also, during haldf time, the staion goes off fro news etc but sometimes they leav rthe mike obn at the ground so youc an herar the banter etc etc which can be a leaugh. ps cna't be arsed to go back through for spelling. Can you tell waht i'm saying?

trousers Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 (edited) Don't do what I did last Saturday. I signed up for saints tv the weekend before but forgot that i'd done so. It was 85 mins into the game whilst keeping an eye on the match day thread that I realised. I don't like to talk about it though in case I'm ridiculed. Belgiansaint Posted 21 October, 2009 Share Posted 21 October, 2009 I wanted to send an email to the club to make sure it's available to overseas fans before subscribing. Thanks for putting my worries to bed.
Professor Posted 22 October, 2009 Share Posted 22 October, 2009 Thanks I am in range of solent, its just frustrating how short we get for our matches on the football league show and meridian news too! coverage on the oldham game was ten times less than the amount of time spent on the pompey game...... we literally got five seconds This is a very fair criticism of the main media who seem to think that there is more interest in a team if its in the Prem, whereas fans remain interested in their team regardless of which league its playing in. The publicity machine tries to promote the Prem just for the money. But thats the wat it is, so Saints Player is the only way of countering it. If I'm not at a game, then whenever I can't get Radio Solent I listen on Saints Player and avoid having all the meaningless stuff on TV or the broadcast radio, about games in other leagues. SaintRobbie Posted 22 October, 2009 Share Posted 22 October, 2009 I have just re-subscribed as I am away out of the country alot at the moment. Complete godsend to hear the games. Sign up ... you no longer have to listen to Dutch fantacism and Lowe propaganda so it's actually quite good and refreshing to just hear from Pards and the players!
