THINWHITEDUKE Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 Sent off for Grimsby last night 67 mins?
saintjay77 Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 lol when will he learn? To be fair a couple of his sending off's for us have been for the sake of the team. but others have been out of stupidity and he really should start learning his lessons. supersonic Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 Didn't even know he was at Grimsby. Although I did see it on SSN news and thought...hmmm, I wonder
Arizona Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 Wow. He must REALLY like baths. 18 first team appearances in all competitions, 3 red cards and 2 bookings.
the saint in winchester Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 handled on the line, apparently. Took the red card for the team.
Arizona Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 handled on the line, apparently. Took the red card for the team. In exchange for a red card and a penalty? I'd have let the goal in myself.
Hopkins Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 In exchange for a red card and a penalty? I'd have let the goal in myself. Then you are a fool. They could miss the penalty and hold out with 10 men. Giving that a shot is better than just conceding.
Arizona Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 Then you are a fool. They could miss the penalty and hold out with 10 men. Giving that a shot is better than just conceding. And it is easy to come back from a goal down with 11 men when, 4 times out of 5, the penalty is scored. And that's aside from the fact that deliberately handling the ball is cheating. And he will now be suspended.
Hopkins Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 There is nothing "easy" about coming back from a goal down. 11 men or not. As we are proving now.
Arizona Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 So you'd stake getting sent off and a suspension on somebody missing a penalty?
saint1977 Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 Lancashire is one of the relics of the old era, see if Iain Baird at Eastleigh can improve him and include him in the deal for Martin. Conference South might be a more competitive level for Ollie. In my worst XI squad for Saints.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 So you'd stake getting sent off and a suspension on somebody missing a penalty? When you put it like that, it does sound pretty ridiculous! Sheffield United away last year however, was a brilliant tactical red card! But that was outside the area. Smirking_Saint Posted 31 October, 2009 Share Posted 31 October, 2009 OL really is sh*te, this does not surprise me, his days in a saints shirt are very much numbered
Whitey Grandad Posted 1 November, 2009 Share Posted 1 November, 2009 Handling on the line is instinctive and there's no time to weigh up the odds, especially for footballers who tend to think slower that the rest of us. I can't honestly see him ever reaching the standard that we would need, unfortunately, but that's why these sorts of players are loaned out. Learn and make your mistakes in someone else's team, not ours.

Whitey Grandad Posted 1 November, 2009 Share Posted 1 November, 2009 Well, if his "instinctive" reaction is to cheat it really doesn't speak much for his footballing brain. I've just watched it carefully on the recording and it looks like it may well have hit his left knee with his arm just behind it. There were certainly a lot of protests from the Grimsby lads. Poor defending though, there were 3 or 4 Grimsbys on the goal line and nobody marking the player who shot.
