Marek Saganowski in the reserves

It's quite a sad thing to see, remembering his opening spell with us. An international striker that can't get in to a League One team quite clearly spells problems for the player. Not being first choice, he obviously doesn't want to be here, and we would rather not be paying his wages.

Put simply, we have better choices in attack currently. Lambert is proving to be every penny's worth of a million quid, Connolly may not be on the pitch for too long a time, but has still scored 3 in 3. Add to that an eager Paterson, a goal scoring Lallana and even Papa Waigo (once he gets used to the offside system that they apparently don't have in Italy) and it seems his days here are numbered.

To save the wages, he's got to go in January, one way or another. (This is where I look stupid as he gets games and becomes top scorer for the season!)

Good to see him getting amongst the goals (even if against FGR Reserves). It will do his confidence good. Just because he is curretly not first choice, it is very likely that if he performs in the reserves that he wil earn a chance again in the future, and we may be glad of him if Ricky gets suspended or injured (of course I hope that doesn't happen but we need to be realistic about players availability for 50 games a season)

It also seems Oscar is doing well:

"The Scot also had special praise for Oscar Gobern, who has just returned from a loan spell with MK Dons.

"Oscar was the stand out performer for me. He did very well in the centre of the park alongside Tom Dunford and showed a little bit of class on the ball this evening. I had to shuffle things around in the second half and stick him in at left back late on, but that didn't faze him and he had a good evening overall."

A possible midfield or defensive place in the first team later this season? Could he become the replacement for the aging Wotton or Perry? One of the interesting things about this season is that youngsters who were thrown into the squad too early in their careers last year seem to have time to progress and mature now. I reckon this is more relevant to us than how Marek who had his chances is faring in the Reserves.

Gobern's been the standout potential breakthrough from the reserves for a good year or so now. The problem last season wasn't having kids in the side, it was not having sufficient experience alongside them, and picking one or two kids who weren't ever going to be good enough. Gobern is definitely not one of those.

can you clarify his best position. When given opportunities out wide he looked lost in the first team. When playing in a central position he looked fairly decent. Is he capable of replacing Wotton? Does he have the first touch, ability to play in tight areas, the awareness, the brain to know when to go long and when not?
