david in sweden Posted 13 January, 2010 Share Posted 13 January, 2010 to EVERYONE else in the squad. fairly obviously the new players will get their debut ASAP, but they are needed when you consider that Murty is out indefinetly, Jahdi for a couple of weeks - at least, and with Trotman gone, it's not as if we are OVER STAFFED. Rumours of Thomas moving back up north, it still leaves us a bit thin in the backline with Perry as the only other experienced defender available. Oh ye of short memory, it wasn't so many seasons ago that we had SIX central defenders injured at the same time...and early on in Strachans time we had FOUR injured strikers! The last thing we want is a long injury list when we're pushing hard for a play-off spot after Easter. Sure there's going to be a clear-out in the summer, but right now there are a lot of players OUT of contention for places and not so many that are both fit AND automatic choices. The more the merrier say I.

Saint_clark Posted 14 January, 2010 Share Posted 14 January, 2010 i maintain ryan smith was not that bad Same. As a left winger, not right, and in a side full of confidence he would do very well.
Saint Bones Posted 14 January, 2010 Share Posted 14 January, 2010 Hmm who currently do we have for the RB slot though ? James of late ? With Murty knackered and the new signing in Seaborne being left sided it may be another area to strengthen. Sounds like Jose is a CB.

Saint_clark Posted 14 January, 2010 Share Posted 14 January, 2010 no no no no. Lightweight. Aaron Lennon couldn't exactly go shoulder to shoulder with the big b*stards in league one either, however fast he is.

david in sweden Posted 14 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 14 January, 2010 Not a threat because other clubs didn't even want them...? Clubs who are very short of money have to sell to survive...our situation last spring. Palace and Exeter are in that category. Norwich have been happy to have " Semi "as their right back for the last two years, but they have signed someone new - and are £22 million in debt. Managers have to make decisions to sell or let " high salary players" go and need money for new players, too. We have signed Semi for 6 months - no risk there. By the time we get to May, both he and Antonio will have proven they are good enough for AP - or not ! ..but at least we have cover in case of further injuries. didn't want... is a bit harsh. Leeds "didn't want" Dan Harding and he's been one of our most consistent performers this season. At least lets see these guys perform for a few games... before discarding them
