Avenue Saint Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 If you could buy just one player in summer who would it be? For me a little thinning of squad would be good and keeping our important players is vital but cant help thinking along with other posters, we are light in the middle of the park. Lose one of our middle 2 and u notice change in performance. Some one like Danns would have been magical. As much as Hammond is essential I think he lacks one thing and thats composure in front of goal. Not that it seems we need it, with our front 4 firing but with morgan's big 0, I think its something we could look at if not for support. Who would you buy?? krissyboy31 Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 Well it looks like Requelme's summer move to the Skates has fallen through (although I'm sure Corp Ho will be able to confirm or deny), so might be able to pick him up on the cheap. oxfordshire_saint Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 A quality centre-half to play with Fonte and with Seaborne being their understudy. Can't see Perry or Jaidi lasting past this season. Jaidi maybe, but he won't be able to play all the games.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 Y stop at Gerrard y not go for yourself?? Hear you have a bit of Kaka in you ;-) Haha, great shout. ICDAJFU Nah but on a serious note, Neil Danns would be a terrific signing. He'd rip this League to shreds I reckon. But in all honesty I can't see it happening. I think Hammond and Morgan are doing a sterling job at the moment but I can see the potential need for another CM.
Ludwig Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 CM, RB, CB. If we can get a decent player in each of those positions, we've got a decent Championship team built, let alone League 1.

Id have him around definately. Plus only what is it, 33 or 34? Perry as good as he is, struggles most against pace, so question is do u want some 1 in squad who u know has an obvious floor.. Dont know but am sure Pardew will be here next season n rightly so. If we dont take maximum points in all but 1 of our remaing games, id say no chance to play offs. But can see us winning it out right next season! Future is bright with AP's red n white army!

Playing Puncheon in middle takes from his effectivenes out wide and wycombe was obviously painful.

Badger Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 Priority No1:RB Then: Another CB to last the season as Jaidi won't and I doubt Perry will remain beyond this season.(depending on how Seaborne and the Eastleigh lad shape up. In addition to that another quality MF - Stock.(I expect Lallana and/or Schneiderlin to leave if we don't go up.). If AP has the time and Marcus is prepared to release more dosh then a young GK as KD's long term replacement.
Clifford Nelson Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 Before we are looking for more players I think we need to do a serious weeding exercise in the squad. That would show us just who may have a future here, and those who won't. I've said it before and I say it again, that the nettle have to be grasped and some 15 contracts paid up and those players to be wished well for the future. There are also a number of contracts running out in the summer and we need to make decisions on CM and CB back up. I wouldn't think that another marquee signing is on the cards. SuperSAINT Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 Commanding midfield player who can tackle, influence & dictate play. No idea who though! (Danns will be off to QPR without any doubt)
SNSUN Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 We'll need a CM, a pacy striker, and another CB IMO, with most likely a RB of we don't keep Semi. CM is the most important area, and it'd be a playmaker. Shock move for Richard Chaplow or (even more of a shock considering which league he's going to end up in) Wes Hoolahan! A realistic signing because of Palarse's current plight that would be awesome for us and relatively cheap might be Darren Ambrose.
saints_is_the_south Posted 28 February, 2010 Share Posted 28 February, 2010 As has already been mentioned, another CCC quality CB to go along side Fonte. Possibly in the same mould as Jaidi but a bit younger. Jaidi & Seaborne for back up. Should be concentrating more on getting rid of the dead wood in the squad in the summer. Lancashire, Pulis, Gillett, Molyneux, Thomson should all be sold or released.
