for_heaven's_Saint Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 Lots of coverage on SSN today about the state of the pitch at Wembley. The general feeling amongst the prem managers seems to be that it's simply not good enough. The surface is even being blamed for 3 separate injuries. Do you think this surface will suit Carlisle more than us , or is it a completely different problem to the muddy league one pitches? Also let's hope none of our players pick up any injuries. Lets B Avenue Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 I think I'd rather we have the final there, rather than Stockport.
Rob the Saint Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 they need to get the squidgee machines from Lord's cricket club to give it a good sucking and rolling
Greenridge Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 If the weather picks up there's three weeks or so of good growing conditions up for grabs so hopefully things will improve. Not great at the moment though.
bpsaint Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 I love that Michael Owen is blaming the pitch for getting injured, and not that fact he's a ****ing sicknote.
skintsaint Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 The way the Egyptians were pinging the ball around 1st half on Weds suggests its not that bad.
Winchester_Saint Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 It is a worry, but then a quality team should be able to adapt to whatever surface they are given. Carlisle will be playing on the same surface, so to say that the pitch is to their advantage is rubbish. They are just more used to adapting to these sorts of boggy messes than we are. paulwantsapint Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 I think the pitch is awful compared to most prem pitches ( except not arf krap & wigan ) but will be better than most away grounds we visit
Saint_clark Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 From the very first game at Wembley I was saying the pitch was awful. Can't believe it isn't looked after properly.

Yate Saint Posted 5 March, 2010 Share Posted 5 March, 2010 they need to get the squidgee machines from Lord's cricket club to give it a good sucking and rolling I thought that sounded rude and therefore funny. I don't understand why the pitch is so bad. They don't use it much so there is no excuse for it to cut up like that. Spend all those millions (far too much millions i must add) on a stadium that has a dreadful playing surface. Brilliant.
