markr27 Posted 17 April, 2010 Share Posted 17 April, 2010 Please forgive me if I am stepping on anyone's toes by creating this thread... Just arrived back at my temporary home from the game - pheewwwwwwwww! First half, for the opening 30 minutes was all Saints, just no end product. Yeovil came into it for the last 15 minutes and were very unfortunate not to go 1 up at the break. Once again, the right side looked very shaky with Otsemobor having a poor game by his standards. Once his main attribute pace is matched equally by the winger he's facing, he's always going to struggle. Puncheon looked lively, and Lallana stumbled when one-on-one, but tried a scorpion kick to get it in. Second half Saints again started strongly with some good chances but faded somewhat as Yeovil then looked more likely to break the deadlock. I did not see Schneiderlin's offence, but those around me suggested he raised his hands? Very strange to see Waigo at right back/wing back, his first cross almost went out the ground, his third however... brilliant. Connolly coming on really gave the forward line some spark, allowing Lambert to float behind. The away support was fantastic from where I was sat close to the halfway line. Post match there is still lots of police around, with panda cars parked in all the local streets post match (Sat in a house 2 mins from the Arrow). There were a few away fans in with the home support that momentarily forgot who they were supposed to be supporting... Yeovil did deserve a point no question, but the knack of a good side is taking three. Home fans perspective, should Fonte have gone? My opinion is No. There was a defender level with him when he committed the offence...

Under Weststand Posted 17 April, 2010 Share Posted 17 April, 2010 Interesting stuff, can someone explain to me what happened with Schneiderlin?! I've been out all afternoon... The commentators said straight away they thought it was a red, very poor challenge from the sounds of it. Also Sky sad a bad tackle. There was some pushing & shoving afterwards but think he got a straight red for the tackle. That' how it sounded. Guess some more at the game will lets us know for sure later on.

Reckon you are right - I think it is only 1 game for 2nd yellow. I seem to recall against MK Dons we were going to lose Morgan for 4 games due to previous misdemeanours, until it was reversed. I am wondering if today was his swansong for Saints. Would be a sad day and way to go out if true.

My opinion is No. There was a defender level with him when he committed the offence... Agree with the above and more. Just arrived back after a really good day...eventually... Met Cliff Huxford before and after the game for a good old natter all things Saints....Like us all , he was so chuffed for Saints.. Sat with my daughter in block B of the community stand to the left of a group of about 6/7 male Saints supportersin mainly white shirts.....This group of big lads stood up and cheered for Saints goal....My daughter and I were not close enough to join in as we were surrounded by a group of Yeovil big boyzz......But the feeling was just great.. The Saints support behind the goal and in the far corner stand was great..But like most of us at times very subdued..particularly when Spiderman got his marching orders for a recless challenge... Yeovil should have scored with at least two opportunities in the first half in front of Saints support. Kelvin also made a wonder save to put one round for a corner.. Lallana was unlucky after a breakaway when not being able to get himself round the ball and his eventual effort over the goalie was cleared away.. Antonio was having no luck down the right and lacks a little control, experience, subtlety etc etc.....Much better as an impact sub. Ots was speedy in recovery but lacked a lot of good decision making and strength/determination at the right time. Harding worked very hard throughout as did Fonte and Seaborne.....Ref allowed a lot of niggly fouls/challenges on these two and others to go without a second glance. Midfield of Hammond and Spiderman were working hard but quite often got caught up /square and out of position...Not a good day for our engine room. Pucheon and Lallan worked very hard and were a constant threat..Both high class players who cause so much concern for the opposition......They need the striker..Barnard up alongside Lambert for the ball to feet and or the through ball. Lambert worked very hard and although constantly fouled by two one in front one behind....bump and push manouvre before he went for every ball...Ref looking the other way... Barnard and Papa.....AND Connolly.........Great move and with Barnards work rate and Connolly guile and experience...different ball game....Luvved it. Papa first touch behind the goal and ball landing in Weymouth.....Unpredictable....Yes..then World class touch....The crowd and the players not always sure what he will do. Pards......is the man...Wilko sent to the stand for berating the fourth official who funnily enough had had far worse fro Yeovil Manager and Coach throughout the game.. Yes whatever anyone thinks Pards IS THE MAN...well done old boy...:prayer: Must add....Credit to Yeovil who worked hard and fought for every ball..As stated..they had chances but Saints were still the far better side.. COYRs..

Crouchie Crouchie Posted 17 April, 2010 Share Posted 17 April, 2010 it will be 3 games suspension. 1st red vs mk dons was overturned - would have got 3 game suspension then. HOWEVER if appeal failed then it would have upgraded to 4 matches. Technichally today is his 1st red so still 3 games out. could appeal but it will likely increase to 4 games. Im guessing that's where people are getting confused with the amount of games suspended as 4 was mentioned earlier in the season. Obviously if it wasn't rescinded he would be on 4 games now no question.

From where I was sat it definitely looked as though another defender was nearby, however the trajectory of my view (right on the front row) didn't help! He could have miles away in reality! Did see the animated discussion though post incident, it appeared that someone was sent from the touchline possibly Wilkins? Local radio really lambasted the referee's performance, stating the Fonte challenge and also the missed penalty decision? I don't remember it (and that is an honest answer!) Before the game, it was very friendly banter outside the Arrow as we walked to the ground, as a large number of fans were there sat on the grassy areas outside and around it. No signs whatsoever of any trouble or disorder.

Oh yes there number 10 Tomlin could have put them one up in the first half...Did not see much of Schneeiderlin sending off as l could not see it but the guy to the side of me said he went in with his elbow and had to go... What a nice friendley lot those at Yeovil were too had flyers up in the toilet welcoming us and wishing us a safe journey. This is the frist time l have been to the football and never felt ripped off £15 for Adult and l think a £5 for kids £1.50 to park. A burger and coke at the ground £3. saint63 Posted 17 April, 2010 Share Posted 17 April, 2010 Outstanding excitement at the end. One of those results you will remember. I felt it was going to be a smash and grab result as the second half went on, despite Yeovil coming at us and causing us many problems. We played some good stuff in the first half and really we deserved to be well ahead by then. Well done Alan Pardew for the very positive and brave subs. Winning in injury time despite being down to 10 men has surely got to make it better than either Swindon match or the awful game aganst Brighton at home?
