Spades Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 With the whole 23 man squad being banned for their next friendly game... does this potentially give our Morgan a look in to the next Squad? Im not sure if he is still captain of the U21's... but if he is, surely he must be up for selection?
Matthew Le God Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 (edited) Im not sure if he is still captain of the U21's... but if he is, surely he must be up for selection? He has never been captain of the under 21's. He hasn't even played a game for the proper French under 21 team. In any case if for example it were England not using the World Cup squad in their next match, how many England under 21 players would be used instead? 4 or 5 at most. They would use players that didn't make the squad. Who would most likely be older. i.e. the ones that missed out like Darren Bent, Leighton Baines, Bobby Zamora, Owen Hargreaves etc Edited 23 July, 2010 by Matthew Le God
Spades Posted 23 July, 2010 Author Share Posted 23 July, 2010 Maybe it was the U19's then? He was definately captain of one of the squads...
saintsub Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 good point - should help his profile and could add a few noughts to his price tag. Those naughty French players. Mabye FC could take a leaf out of the French managers book and sack the whole crappy, over-paid, dross that currently make up the English national team. IOWSaintDaz Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 Sure he will play for the senior team, those who played the world cup (if you can call it play) most of them will never play for France again
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 I'm sure that there must be players playing at a higher level that weren't picked for the national squad, that will be picked ahead of Morgan, although there is a chance because the guy is class. I can't see him being picked though yet, I'm not really up on France players...but off the top of my head... Lassana Diarra and Moussa Sissoko both play in the middle oof the park and didn't go to the world cup.
CWD Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 I think he was captain of U19s, not U21s. Still Blanc may well want to look at his younger options. Would be brilliant for him, but puts him very much in the mind of PL managers....
Saint Garrett Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 Schneiderlin has represented France at under-16, under-17, under-18, whom he captained, and under-19 levels. On 25 May 2009, he was selected in the under-20 squad to participate in the 2009 Mediterranean Games. Schneiderlin featured in thee of the four matches contested as France finished in fifth place. The following year, he appeared with the under-20 team again for the 2010 Toulon Tournament. In the opening game of the tournament against Columbia U20, Schneiderlin scored the first goal in the 34th minute, helping his side win the game 2–0.[3]
Kingsland Nick Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 Morgan needs to get into the Under 21 A team first - the team he played for in Toulon was the France Under 21 B team

Mavuba and Matuidi in particular are both very talented young(ish) players who already have a few Ligue 1 campaigns under their belts and as someone mentioned above, Moussa Sissoko is very highly rated too. The one out of those lot who has the potential to be a true star though is Gonalons, watch out for him.
Winchester_Saint Posted 23 July, 2010 Share Posted 23 July, 2010 Diarra, Nasri and Flamini are just three players off the top of my head that are miles ahead of Morgan and would be well ahead of him in the pecking order, too. Maybe, one day...lol
