Dull

New manager doesn't inspire or excite me, we drift aimlessly towards another dull season of missed chances. League one for another season i'm afraid.

I guess you could say with the appointment of AP lead me to believe we could attract the best and we were really are a big club in the wrong league. The possible appointment of Adkins confirms we are not.

Reality has slapped me in the face!

On a positive note i wish him well if he is the man.

Fickle Fans! He's dull because you have no idea who he is! Eveyone needs to give the bloke a break, I expect he's been told that Southampton are beneath him, what with him being in the Championship and we're in League 1 struggling to get points on the board. I don't think Southampton are the only team in all the leagues that want to get promoted to the Premiership, let's stop thinking we're better than everyone else and should have the best Manager in the world come and be our manager, as that's not going to happen, at least not until we're in the Premiership.

IF it's Adkins, then I for one will be very happy we finally have a decent manager in charge and can start to focus on the games and let all the rubbish that's gone on recently fall behind us.

There might still be a twist in the tail yet anyway.

The job he has done at Scunny is superb.......he is a cracking option imo

Care to state what he's achieved in relation to our supposed 5-year plan? Oh yes, that's right...he's got them into the nPC to the point where they just missed relegation back to L1 last season by a whisker. OK, so he's had some limited success, but he's hardly set the world alight and "superb" is not a term I would use. If it's really him, then yes he deserves our support...he'll get it from me. However I am underwhelmed and frankly, all things taken into account, I expect him to fail.

Exactly as I see it. His managerial record reads as follows:

Took over Sc*nthorpe December 2006

Season 2006/07: League 1, finished 1st.

Season 2007/08: Champ, finished 23rd (relegated)

Season 2008/09: League 1, finished 6th (promoted via playoffs)

Season 2009/10: Champ, finished 19th.

So his best achievement was finishing top of this division, but he was only manager of the side for half of that season, he inherited the team that Brian Laws left behind. he was then instantly relegated. His next promotion came after his team finished a full 20 points behind the league champions. And his team stayed in the Championship courtesy of finishing above the relegated clubs and Crystal Palace, who were docked 10 points for going into administration.

It's hardly a resume to hold up as an example of complete success. I would consider this appointment very uninspiring, and in my eyes leaves us a lot worse off than we would have been with Pardew at the helm.

It really doesn't matter if we would of been better off with Pardew. He has gone for what looks like non footbal reasons. Move on.

It matters to the extent of the calibre of manager we get in. Pardew is the measuring stick for that. If the new manager is deemed as weaker than our previous manager, then you can makea logical conclusion that our chances of promotion have been diminished.

I'm making the point that we should be looking to recruit a manager of equal or better standing than Pardew. Adkins is a risk because, in terms of his qualifications, he comes in weaker than Pardew. Also weaker than Phil Brown, who scceeded in promotion to the Premier League. It's a use for comparison, nothing more.

We're looking for a manager to be with us for the long term. You really think if we had someone high profile like an O'Neill then he would stay for the long haul?

As soon as a big job came along MON would be offski.

Some of the posts criticising the guy before he's even got the job are embarassing to be honest. He's done a good job at s****horpe with no money. The arrogance of some of our fans who still have a "Premier League" chip on their shoulder is cringeworthy. We have a manager who's tasted success at this level twice about to join us, is young and ambitious. Not many other League 1 clubs would probably be able to entice him.

Yes thats right, League ONE clubs. The division our club is currently in.

Broken down like that it does seem a very uninspiring choice. Can't see it really lifting the club or putting bums on seats.

It seems to me that the main thing he has going for him is that he has done a lot of Les Reed's courses and would be happy to work in the environment that Reed will create for him.

Seems like a Lowe-esque appointment to me.
