Bailey Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 http://www.givemefootball.com/internationals/saints-starlet-sets-sights-on-england Worth a read. Speaking exclusively to GiveMeFootball.com, Lallana talks about his inclusion in Stuart Pearce's England U21 squad, and his hopes of making the final cut ahead of this summer's European Championship. Saint Mikey Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 Decent piece. Looking at the squad, Albrighton, Hammill and Sinclair are all ahead of him, but other than that who else is an option on the wing? Considering Lallana gives an option on both. Rose? Is all left-peg, I think? An awful lot of CM's in there. England U21 provisional squad: Frank Fielding (Blackburn), Scott Loach (Watford), Jason Steele (Middlesbrough), Alex McCarthy (Reading), Joe Bennett (Middlesbrough), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jones (Blackburn), Michael Mancienne (Chelsea), Ben Mee (Manchester City), Kyle Naughton (Tottenham), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), James Tomkins (West Ham), Kieran Trippier (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham), Marc Albrighton (Aston Villa), Jack Cork (Chelsea), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Jay Spearing (Liverpool) Adam Hammill (Wolves), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Jonny Howson (Leeds), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Henri Lansbury (Arsenal), Josh McEachran (Chelsea), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham), Scott Sinclair (Swansea), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Andrew Carroll (Liverpool), Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa), Gary Hooper (Celtic), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley), Freddie Sears (West Ham), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), James Vaughan (Everton), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United), Connor Wickham (Ipswich). Saint Mikey Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 I know I'm biassed, but Lallana is a far better player than Hammill. Albrighton is alright, but a bit Milner like, in being efficient quality, but never going to control a game. Lallana has something extra that most these players don't. His only problem is that he's restricted to showing it in league 1/championship. I'd put him above Delfouneso, Hooper, Sears, Vaughan, Welbeck and several others too. Hammill had a consistently good season and a half for Barnsley, hence why he got a move to Wolves. I know he was frustrating when he was here, but he has developed into a better player. You've just listed a load of strikers. Although I agree that they aren't brilliant players, apart from Wellbeck, who I think can be very decent. Overall, I agree though. Lallana has only done what he's done in Lge 1, which will probably prevent from being in the final squad. Despite IMO being good enough.

Pedro Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 Why no Walcott? I think I read that Walcott is now an established senior team member.
NickG Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 I know I'm biassed, but Lallana is a far better player than Hammill. . if Hammill has worked hard on his fitness and improved his game a lot he will still be **** compared to Lallana
Ewell Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 I hope he does not go as I want him all guns blazing to tear The Championship apart in August.
Golden Balls Posted 19 May, 2011 Share Posted 19 May, 2011 Part of me doesn't want him to go. Less chance of injury/burn out and less chance of seeing what the big boys earn and fancy a move away.

Already had the chance for that, didn't leave. I'd wager he's the top earner at Saints anyway.

Crab Lungs Posted 20 May, 2011 Share Posted 20 May, 2011 I'm with adriansfc on this one... And I'm certainly not one for bias. Lallana is a better player than many in that squad, without doubt... anyone who saw Bale when he first came through should be able to recognise a PL quality player - and Lallana is one of those. He'll go on to have a far, far more distinguished career than many of the players named and probably all of those mentioned by adriansfc.
SuperMikey Posted 20 May, 2011 Share Posted 20 May, 2011 I have to say, that is a ferking strong squad Pearcy has got there. A line-up like this would easily compete in the Prem: --------------------------LOACH------------------------- RICHARDS----------JONES-------SMALLING----------GIBBS --------------HENDERSON-------RODWELL---------------- ALBRIGHTON------------------------------------WILSHERE -----------------CARROLL-------WELBECK----------------
