Being A Saints Mascot

Same as it used to be then. I was a mascot and was drawn out randomly as I was a member of what was then "young saints". Sheffield United FA cup game at the dell in about 2000ish. 1-0.

Good day. Beattie was late turning up and got told off by Hoddle. Kachloul was doing allsorts of tricks with the ball in the changing room for the sake of it. Dodd was a very decent bloke!

Brilliant. Thank you for your valuable and highly original input. I searched the Saints site before posting and couldn't find anything (not saying it's not there, but if it is I couldn't spot it). I stupidly thought that asking the question on a Saints forum might be fruitful...

FYI - The link you kindly provided me with one hit - the official site's 2009-2010 Junior Saints application form.

For anyone else who isn't a complete knob, any pointers would be welcomed (many thanks - I'm not normally so grumpy)!

Not sure myself but if there's nothing on the site I guess you could try e-mailing address SaintSarah posted above asking for some information.

Does anybody have any experience of their son, daughter, relation being a mascot for Saints?

Does anyone have any advise?

I managed to organise for my son to be mascot at Brentford two seasons ago.

This was done directly with Brentford, nothing to do with Saints even though my son is Junior Saint member

I think it normally costs a little to be mascot at away game but helped by a fellow London Saint who's on Middlesex FA my sons mascot appearence was free.

He had a brilliant evening mixing with the players in the dressing room before the game, getting all the teams autographs and the players and staff, especially Alan Pardew were brilliant with him and made him feel completely at home.

He then lead the team out onto the pitch with Jose Fonte

We have got many photo's of the day including great one of him on the pitch with Fonte, ref, opposing captain before the game.

If you get the chance to get your kids as mascot I'd recoomend it.

It's on the Saints website if you look hard enough. Though it's of no help at all, and I'm not sure they updated it last year either.

On the bright side, I'm in that photo, with the camera in front of my face behind the blonde girl.

Can't tell where you are looking, at the pitch or at her arse?

My grandson was lucky enough to be Saints mascot at Anfield 28/12/2004. He was made really welcome by LFC and had photos with LFC players. He also had photos with Saints players in the dressing room prior to the game. For some reason that day, HR dropped Peter Crouch and we met him in the bar prior to the game and he was none too happy! G-son led the team out onto the pitch. Sadly we lost 1-0. Some time into Jan, he was sent a superb photo album of the day by LFC.

The weather going up was really bad and it took us 7 hours to reach Liverpool but it was worth it, just to see him as Saints mascot!

Hope you manage to get your lad to do it.

All the home mascots are drawn at random from the junior saints members-£15 yr, away mascots are on application first come first served basis. Contact Dawn Finch at the club:dfinch@saintsfc.co.uk

Thanks for that. Managed to get my nipper sorted as an away game mascot in October He's a very, very, very happy boy. :-)

Oh god, I remember that day well. Drove up in yes, the worst weather. Florent Sinama Pongolle scored the only goal I believe.

My nephew was mascot at Colchester away on boxing day a couple of seasons ago. My dad wrote to the club to ask if he could be one and was given this game. Home games are decided by a draw for Junior Saints members.

My nephew had a great day and as his Dad doesn't like footy I got to be the responsible adult for the day. Meant I didn't drink before game though. He got to meet all the players and get pictures/autographs etc. He went into the dressing room (it was smaller than most lounges so no wonder they moved grounds) and had kickabout with home team mascots.

He also got to take a penalty at half time in front of the saints fans. Sadly he put it wide of the post.

Also his mum, grandma, brother and sister were allowed into the ground for free just to watch him run out. When they got back to the car just after kick off they had been blocked in the pub car park so basically had to sit out the whole game in the pub waiting for full time. No surprise they were a bit worse for wear when we turned up

All in all a great day for everyone

I had it sorted in less than an hour yesterday for the away game at Derby. Couldn't believe it myself and my 9yo is bouncing around beaming like a Cheshire cat.

What's the age limit? I've a 13 year old cousin who would still absolutely love it who is going through a very difficult time at the moment following the passing of his mother. It would mean alot to get something happy organised for him.

Drop Dawn an email. She's legend.

Dawn really was extremely helpful, what a lovely lady! I have sorted him Notts Forest away in January. She's sending the paperwork to me so it'll be a nice xmas surprise for him.
