buctootim Posted 6 April, 2014 Share Posted 6 April, 2014 They're the appropriate people to sack him.
SNSUN Posted 6 April, 2014 Share Posted 6 April, 2014 Far too late. He's a poor manager, as I've stated before on the main board. Nice bloke, but tactically inept, and woefully underachieving with the money that got spent in the summer. Still, this sacking is too late, they should have done it weeks ago. Norwich have one easily winnable game left against Fulham (although they scored a cracking win yesterday) and have Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool as their last 4 games. The gap between Norwich and the bottom 3 looks big, but Sunderland have two games in hand, and should Fulham win at home against them, they'll only be one point behind. Incidentally if Magath somehow keeps Fulham up, it'll be one of the managerial feats of all time. I can't see it, I still think Sunderland are more likely to pull out of the relegation zone, but we'll see.
Gorgiesaint Posted 6 April, 2014 Share Posted 6 April, 2014 I think the Norwich board are looking for a one game boost against Fulham. Sacking a manager very often only gives a short term boost but if they can do that and somehow beat Fulham then they'll be safe. They looked certain to lose on Saturday if Hughton had been in charge. If they win, they'll be 8 points clear of Fulham with 4 to play, 9 clear of Cardiff if they get beaten at St Marys and that leaves Sunderland with 3 games in hand. However Sunderland's remaining games (starting Monday night) are Spurs (a), Everton (h), Man City (a), Chelsea (a), Cardiff (h), Man Utd (a), West Brom (h), Swansea (h). Assuming Norwich beat Fulham, and Sunderland beat Cardiff, West Brom & Swansea then Sunderland only need a point from the other games to tie on goal difference. If Norwich fail to win then Sunderland would stay up with those 3 wins. Given that, you can see why the Norwich board have gambled, they don't have much to lose. They MUST win on Saturday. fish fingers Posted 7 April, 2014 Share Posted 7 April, 2014 Something they should have done a while ago, but to do it now is just bizarre. On paper they have one winnable match left of five, not much of a chance for the new guy.
stevegrant Posted 7 April, 2014 Share Posted 7 April, 2014 They would have been banking on beating West Brom on Saturday to give them enough of a cushion that the last 5 games wouldn't matter and they could get rid of Hughton in the summer and nobody would really bat an eyelid. Losing that game has changed everything - Fulham will be 2 points behind them if they win on Saturday, with a run of winnable games in the run-in. The view now is probably that with Hughton in charge they're more or less guaranteed to lose all 5 games, so they might as well make a change in the hope that they get something different, rather than any sort of expectation. Let's face it, Neil Adams can't really do an awful lot worse.
Bearsy Posted 7 April, 2014 Share Posted 7 April, 2014 i read bout there is not a single blick managers in the top 4 divisions. Scandal how quality managers like paul ince, john barnes + chrissy hughton can't hold onto jobs, just cos of the colour of their skin

Window Cleaner Posted 7 April, 2014 Share Posted 7 April, 2014 He wasn't doing much of a job so they might as well sack him now and get someone else in to set up next season. They probably won't go down anyway and perhaps there's competition for the replacement they want. Isn't McKay supposed to be going to West Ham...perhaps they want to try to head him off before Sam quits.

OttawaSaint Posted 8 April, 2014 Share Posted 8 April, 2014 Very strange given they 'won the summer transfer window'. Surely Barry doesn't just talk relentless drivel? Must only be 16-1 to Barry now. Poor guy gets "hammered" for his opinions on here...
