alpine_saint Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 I think the red-and-white stripes thing has gone to their heads. they are suffering an identity crisis. Look at the PL table. They are even coveting our old position...
Hatch Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 Beattie will still be a Championship player in 6 months time
GeckoSaint Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 So that's Delap, Fuller, Higginbotham, Pericard(on loan), Davies now Beatts.
trousers Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 Perhaps we should send Pullis back?
Pete Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 Read a couple of days ago that they were interested in Henri Camara!
labibs Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 £2.5m is a hell of a good price for Beattie. Is that a sign that Sheffield United are basically accepting they are not going to get promoted this season then? I heard Fulham were interested in him, I'd much rather go there then Stoke. Annoyingly if he does well for them, he may just keep them up.
VectisSaint Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 They'll be signing Brett Ormerod next.

Annoyingly if he does well for them, he may just keep them up. They'll be looking at his age - 30 - and the wages. Blackwell might get that money to spend though as Sheff Utd are one of the better-off CCC clubs and that's without the Tevez money, subject to appeal of course. It could work for both sides - Beatts might get half-a-dozen goals to keep Stoke up and Sheff Utd might be able to bring younger blood with some pace in as Beatts has had injury problems this season. Still scored 12 times though even so! I liked Beatts as a Saints player and he's pined for the club a bit since he left as well.
saint1977 Posted 9 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 9 January, 2009 They'll be signing Brett Ormerod next. Shrewsbury apparently along with Hawley of Preston who scored against us last season and played for Simpson at Carlisle. Must still have a bit of their Joe Hart windfall left, they've spent a lot for a League 2 side.
Johnny Bognor Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/stoke_city/7820562.stm Let's hope they try to copy our boardroom - perhaps there is somwhere for Lowe to go afterall (Stoke is a bit closer to WH Irelands offices too)
mikec Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 It's all part of Rupert's plan to get promotion to the Premiership without all that tedious business of having to win games: - Get all of our decent players to Stoke directly or indirectly. - Asset-strip the current club until it folds. - Use the money accumulated to buy up Stoke. - Announce that Stoke City are being renamed as Southampton FC and all future games will be played at St Mary's Genius! Bakovnetski Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 Maybe there is a sell on clause to all clubs who play in red and white. :-)
Atticus Finch of Maycomb Posted 9 January, 2009 Share Posted 9 January, 2009 all the good players we got rid of over the years, believing we were improving... what a mess.
