Stoke REALLY are becoming the former Saints XI!

£2.5m is a hell of a good price for Beattie. Is that a sign that Sheffield United are basically accepting they are not going to get promoted this season then?

I heard Fulham were interested in him, I'd much rather go there then Stoke.

Annoyingly if he does well for them, he may just keep them up.

They'll be looking at his age - 30 - and the wages. Blackwell might get that money to spend though as Sheff Utd are one of the better-off CCC clubs and that's without the Tevez money, subject to appeal of course. It could work for both sides - Beatts might get half-a-dozen goals to keep Stoke up and Sheff Utd might be able to bring younger blood with some pace in as Beatts has had injury problems this season. Still scored 12 times though even so! I liked Beatts as a Saints player and he's pined for the club a bit since he left as well.

They'll be signing Brett Ormerod next.

Shrewsbury apparently along with Hawley of Preston who scored against us last season and played for Simpson at Carlisle. Must still have a bit of their Joe Hart windfall left, they've spent a lot for a League 2 side.

It's all part of Rupert's plan to get promotion to the Premiership without all that tedious business of having to win games:

- Get all of our decent players to Stoke directly or indirectly.

- Asset-strip the current club until it folds.

- Use the money accumulated to buy up Stoke.

- Announce that Stoke City are being renamed as Southampton FC and all future games will be played at St Mary's

Genius!
