Tbf you were telling everybody on here that his legs had gone in 2022 and his time in Spain was nothing more than a retirement gig, so there’s probably a bit of give and take on either side. CylonKing Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Genuinely, midfield steel at 34, 43 or WGS would improve this shit arse squad. Has he really, genuinely signed?

People seemed to be saying every year since he joined that his legs had gone, yet when he left we fell apart and he ended up at Barcelona haha, madness. He could play with one leg and he’d be good in this league. 1

You only need to look back a few pages on this very thread to find some history of people who were so very keen to say that his legs had gone. Lighthouse, I’m looking at you especially. suewhistle Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I recall Jimmy Case at a certain age joining us, and as I couldn't remember the dates I checked on Wiki, and will leave this quote there in hopes Oriol will do the same.. Quote Over his six years at The Dell, Case lost none of his bite in the tackle and he made up for any loss of pace by a broadening vision and excellent passing skills. Even in his mid thirties, he was still among the most highly regarded midfielders in the First Division. I'd also add that, as a player from the modern era, Romeu probably doesn't go out on the lash like Jimmy Case did. I heard a story from a Saints supporting taxi driver that he was once observed pissing all over a cashpoint on a drunken night out!

Might be worth pointing out though that Case was a bit younger on signing (still only 30). But he was still playing for us at 36. Hopefully he makes a similar impact for us that Case did. 1
rallyboy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I hope he's still got it, though he may be worth the money just for his presence in the dressing room. He should be given full licence to remind the current squad of the minimum standards expected if you wear the shirt. Unleash him.

However, there was way no getting away from the fact that he looked well off the pace in his last third of a season in 2022. We got the best years out of him, he left and found a new lease of life in a less intense league.
