ALWAYS_SFC Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Well will we see more of the same pathetic team selection and clueless tactics like the first half against Norwich or.... Will the lesson finally be learnt and we play 4-4-2 with 2 proper strikers, wingers on correct side and the best made of the experienced players we have left.. The strikers should be Saga and BWP... Thoughts?
Bailey Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 After hearing Wotte's post-match interview after the Norwich game, it would seem we're going to play 4-4-2. About time too if you ask me! I think I'd all but give up with Saints if Wotte kept Saga on the bench again . . .
SFC Forever Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 I pray the new boy will play 4-4-2. He should do but what wingers will he use.? Do we play Drew and Adam or just one of them. I would be tempted to play BWP on right with Saga and McG up front and McClaggon given a chance on the left. Our biggest problem in my book is the lightweight midfield. Easily overrun by opposition and bypassed leaving our weak defence unprotected. Euell has to play but who plays with him. Spiderman can pass a ball if he gets it but even he is not a good tackler and gets brushed aside to easily.
Bailey Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 I'm hoping we'll line up as follows . . . ------------------ Davis ------------------- James ----- Saeijs ----- Perry ----- Molyneux McLaggon --- Schneiderlin --- Euell --- Surman -------- Saganowski --- McGoldrick --------- Subs: Bialkowski, Lancashire, Gillett, Smith, Lallana Realistically though, I think we'll see Wotton in place of Euell and maybe Gillett instead of Morgan. With the above side, I think we have a decent chance of getting the 3 points. Swansea are due a defeat and they're nothing without Dyer . . . SFC Forever Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 With all our problems with backs I have often wondered why our reserve RB hasn't been given a chance. I feel with a back in situ James could do a better job in midfield if called upon. He isn't the best tackler in the world but he does tackle and has managed to win a few balls. Added to that having played RB all season so far he would be able to cover a fb run if necessary. He also knows how to whip a good cross into the box. cellone Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 I'm with Rich on the line up, both BWP and Lallana make useful sub's in terms of playable positions and thier energy, pace and skill.

SuperMikey Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Squad announced on OS: (from) Davis, Bialkowski, Saeijs, Perry, Lancashire, James, Molyneux, Wotton, Gillett, Schneiderlin, Surman, Smith, Lallana, Pulis, Gasmi, McGoldrick, Euell, McLaggon, Wright-Phillips, Saganowski. (no Rudi I see..) from that squad I would play: -----------Davis--------------- James--Perry--Saeijs--Molyneux -----Surman---Morgan--------- Lallana-------------------Kayne -------Saga---DMG------------ Subs: Bart, Lancashire, Euell, Wright-Phillips, Smith
Andy_Porter Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 That mifield is too lightweight. I'd play -------- Davis James Perry Size Molyneux McLaggon Morgan Wotton Surman ----- Saga McGoldrick Subs: Bart, Lancashire, Gillett, Euell and Lallana Need to play at least one winger so McLaggon starts ahead of Lallana, I think if we played both Surman and Lallana on the flanks we'd have no one in the wide areas and no where near enough pace. Wotton ahead of Gillett as he's got a bit more experience and strength.
Weston Saint Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 I'm hoping we'll line up as follows . . . ------------------ Davis ------------------- James ----- Saeijs ----- Perry ----- Molyneux McLaggon --- Schneiderlin --- Euell --- Surman -------- Saganowski --- McGoldrick --------- Subs: Bialkowski, Lancashire, Gillett, Smith, Lallana Realistically though, I think we'll see Wotton in place of Euell and maybe Gillett instead of Morgan. We need to introduce him carefully and selectively. So I would put Euell on the right and Lallana in the middle. Surman on the left is not his best position but he might be a bit more disciplined than the others to remain out wide and support Molyneau
Andy_Porter Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Has anyone an idea what is happening with Pulis? He's ****, even his old man couldn't find a place for him on the bench at Stoke last season.

Surman on the left is not his best position but he might be a bit more disciplined than the others to remain out wide and support Molyneau No pace in the middle four Ron. They didn't play 4-4-2 2nd half at Norwich. They only played McLaggon wide left with Lallana in a free roll running round the centre circle. James had nobody in front of him when he put in the cross on the 45 as usual, lucky Saganowski was on. I'd play BWP, Euell, Surman, McLaggon and leave Lallana out altogether. It won't happen, Wotte is too clever by half, look out for a revolution that will mess the first half up again.

Plumstead_Saint Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 team announced on OS: Southampton: Davis, James, Perry, Saeijs, Molyneux, Wotton, Gillett, Surman, Lallana, McGoldrick, Saganowski. Gillett is garbage, he will fluff tackles and clearances and we'll get shafted. Then he'll go off and we'll play decent football (and score goals, hopefully enough to catch up from the time before he went off).

Window Cleaner Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 How can he not start with McLaggon after his performance against Norwich!! Perhaps he won't last 90 and his dynamism and pace is more of a threat against a side worn down by 55 minutes of Saga and McG attrition on top of having been kicked about a bit by Wotton (on purpose) and Gillett (because he misses the ball and kicks the player)
Saint_Mabes Posted 31 January, 2009 Share Posted 31 January, 2009 I think thats a good team personally. I have no problem playing Gillet instead of Morgan, tho if its not working obviously that would be a good sub. Great to see Saga starting WITH McGoldrick. Would expect to see Kayne used as a sub as well as Eeull. COYR!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we will find it alot harder to score goals as we offered no threat at all against Norwich before he and Saga came on. Just hope we are not 3-0 down when he decides to bring him on. What a f**king awful midfield line-up considering what the manager has available. and I see the clause in McGoldrick's contract has kept McLaggon out.
