Pity about the collapse, great stand between first Lehmann and Mayes, then Lehmann-Brown, and then thrown away by late middle order and tail. Dawson got an unplayable delivery.

Reasonable start with the ball, glad to see Fuller back. Yusuf too short again for the surface, fuller length and he might get driven but he is just as likely to get a wicket early season. Why aren’t the coaches making this point? Are they bothered or is he not listening?

Tomorrow am crucial, need at least 3 wickets before lunch when the ball goes soft and we saw batting getting easier.

Probably not what's needed at all.

I'd think getting a real opener in, no need to bé an overseas player, use any one of the three other "openers". Put Gubbins back at 3, Mayes 5 and if you must Prest at 6. The only thing that probably needs doing with Yusuf is to tell him to bowl to English conditions and not a yard short as is standard in S.A. Probably been told that already, but i'm not sure if we actually have a specific bowling coach.

If you bat well at 3 at international level, generally you’ll have the game to open in the domestic game. Agree with you on Gubbins at 3 domestically, Mayes at 5 and Prest they’ve got to persevere with at 6 because there is talent there, but he hasn’t the brains or focus of a Bethell. But against the older ball his development might unlock again.

Yusuf wicketless again, not making any runs in the tail and waste of a shirt.

What's happened to Orr? Surely he can't be any worse than the opening guys we have tried thus far?

Kevan James reckoned that the players currently in the team would be given a few matches to prove themselves before being dropped .

The issue being most of those batters were garbage last season as well bar Dawson.

Lehmann is a good player but him and more recently Brown are looking like Bradman and Gilchrist by comparison to the Southern Premier filler around them.

Need couple quick wickets this morning to get into their middle order before the ball goes soft and sunshine dries the wicket slightly.

How many potential batting and bowling points will we have thrown away before they are ruled inadequate ? How far adrift at the bottom of the table before anybody acts ? The problems are bloody obvious and run deep.

Thank f**k we’ve got Fuller, Lehmann and Daws back. Looked like a village team without them.

For an overseas player, I can’t really say Yusuf has added much we wouldn’t have got from Wheal or Jack.

Dawson on his current form, I could do without if needs be. I'd give Neal a go.

Conceded 81 for the last wicket. We'll probably lose at least 2 wickets wiping out their first innings lead.

Poor bowling. I haven't watched for a while but I saw a lot of wild stuff from Yusuf and "hit me"balls from Dawson.

Dropped catch as well, Lehmann perhaps.

Yusuf is a waste of a shirt, no quicker than Wheal or Jack, arguably slower, goes for 4 per over and very few wickets. Doesn’t score late over runs and fielding so so. Pedigree good but the reality not.

Quality overseas opener would be more helpful.

Didn't see Albert's wicket but Prest was guilty of a Vince special, aimless waft outside off.

He’s crap, certainly at 3. Lost his way, needs to bat at 6 but contributing 40+ there or can make up the numbers at Derbyshire or somewhere. The adults are in now, needs to be a hefty partnership.

I’ll post what I like John as long as it is not litigious.

154-8 against that attack on that pitch is beyond pathetic. Cricket doesn’t have transfer windows so the coach is one of the few things you can change. It’s like when Will Still when Saints had him as manager, the players have no plan, no confidence and no leadership. It’s not a vintage Hampshire side but Gubbins is better than he’s showing, Prest is getting no direction to value his wicket, Currie has been in England white ball squads recently. It’s not as bad as this or the Essex no-show. Even in the late 90s when we had no money it was better than this.

Deposing Brown as skipper would be an idea as well.

Give it a rest just back from an enjoyable couple of days at Essex

PS I am not sure you understand cricket

I thought he was pretty unlucky last night bowled pretty quick and had Elgar Jumping all over the place

Best that you think before you type John.

Cranked it up for his fellow Saffer and ex-national skipper. Been half a length too short so far.
