Richard O'Sullivan has passed away. A comedy actor, starring in Man About The House as a Southampton fan referencing Southampton many times.

Ah no thats sad always loved Man about the House Paula Wilcox and Sally Thomsett of course too . Was amazed as a kid someone on the telly supporting the Saints

RIP to a stalwart of my TV childhood.  My Mum worked in Portswood through the late sixties and seventies and mentioned seeing Richard O' Sullivan shopping in Portswood with a relative a number of times, and always happy to chat, so assume that there was a real life connection to his Man About the House support for SFC.  The episode above is from 1974, so ROS wasn't a JCL or glory hunter!

He was also infamous for shacking up with Tony Blackburn’s wife leading to the poptastic DJ to have several emotional meltdowns on air, bless him.

Interesting. Didn’t know he had any connections with Southampton in real life.

Sad to hear he’s gone. Certainly his Man About the House/Robins Nest was part of the staple diet of tv in the early 1970’s.

I looked him up on Wikipedia today to see if it mentioned a Southampton connection. None noted although Miltonaggro has provided a source on this.

It did however mention Tessa Wyatt, and also seems he was knobbing Sally Thomsett at one stage as well. (Both she and Paula Wilcox highly regarded totty in the early 1970’s - barely believable when you see them now).

Yep, and he’d been poorly since having s stroke in 2003. Poor bloke.

Up until recently I hadn’t seen current pictures of either him or Paul Nicholas. Quite a shock to see how much they had aged since they were both on TV regularly. Where did that time go?

He used to drink in the Windmill Pub in Brentford jn the seventies so not surprising he supported them
