Springhill Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Police will call it off just like they have done with the arsenal gameWell I wish they would hurry up and do so......the pitch is not the issue what about fans who live in rural areas and would almost certainly have to face dangerous icy roads before and especially after the game. I don't want to miss the game but I'm not taking the risk.

Ken Tone Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Anyone else notice Sheff utd have signed Lupoli on loan. He must have been confused by all the red and whie stripes I suppose. Is he eligible to play tonight if the game really is on. (snowing slightly here in whitchurch as I speak) K.

Wouldnt of thought Lupoli was signed in time - normally its a 12am Friday deadline and seeing as he wasnt signed till late afternoon but knowing the FA who knows. Charlie Wayman Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Not much point in playing to a crowd of 5000. Many fans live as far away as Andover, Poole and Worthing not to mention the Blades supporters, who will certainly not want to stay overnight in local hotels at exorbitant cost. The weather at SMS is not the issue. I think this is a no brainer, the boy's in blue won't want to stand out in this weather either so a good excuse is 'Elf & Safety with "high risk of road accidents." Of course, Saints will get fined by the FL if they just call it off so ergo get some other organisation to do their dirty work for them, then they can all stand on the moral high ground. PS As I write at 10.49 it is snowing again in the New Forest so it looks doomed anyway.

I think if it goes ahead, then it would be the lowest crowd at SMS. And with the weather saying heavy snow for later, i can't see many people leaving if it does! Dannyboy_Saint Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 If it is called off it'll be only the second game since St Mary's was opened.
Minty Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Met Office warning is only valid until 1400 and from my understanding, we shouldn't get any more significant snow for the rest of the day, certainly nothing that will add to any of the problems on the roads. Temperatures should also remain above freezing now until after the match, helping things thaw out. Some areas may well remain in difficulty but that will be localised and while I sympathise with anyone in an area that is cut off or inaccessible somehow, I would expect conditions to improve sufficiently by tonight for most people to get there.
