70's Mike Posted 22 March, 2009 Share Posted 22 March, 2009 Is their a pattern beginning to show here? Those who have seen the last 3 games are concerned about our ability to get out of the bottom 3 and are Negative. Those who have not seen the performances keep talking about winning our game in hand, Plymouth not getting eight more points, our better record over the last four games compared to Forest and Plymouth, Charlton being out of it so will not be trying. These guys are veing Positive but it is based on second hand views or bending stats rather than the teams performances. I hope they are right but the first 70mins yesterday were awful, no fight, no pattern and no alternatives
Andy_Porter Posted 22 March, 2009 Share Posted 22 March, 2009 I'm usually quite positive but I just can't see us staying up, I think i've seen all but one of Wotte's games and while we've improved I don't think we've got enough games to turn things around. I don't think we're going to score enough goals to get us out of trouble and if it does come down to needing a win against Forest there's no way the likes of Schneiderlin, Surman, Lallana and McGoldrick etc will have the bottle for that. Really hope I'm wrong though, obviously.

AussieDog Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 We only have to do marginally better than Forest and Plymouth......and their recent results have been worse than ours, so although we are cr4p, there are worse teams than us! My own personal opinion is that it will come down to the Forest game - but that a draw will be enough. Question is...which team will have the most bottle on the day?? skintsaint Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 There is a few more twists and turns yet so we are by no means down yet. We seem hard to beat these days which is a good thing but we need to winning games instead of drawing them. It will go down to the final game...and can only hope we do enough to stay up. Like last season you mean I agree there are a few twists and turns yet, hopefully other teams around us will falter and we somehow manage to turn draws into wins. I hope they are right but the first 70mins yesterday were awful, no fight, no pattern and no alternatives WTF did we swop JP for Wotte for then? We were all of these things under JP, so any new manager has to bring something new and improved to the setup.... right? Wrong apparently, as we get the other Dutchman under Lowe's grand vision who was overseeing the original failure anyway. The three wins may have been new manager syndrome but it did have the feeling that the players were playing for themselves rather than for Wotte necessarily. However, it has all quickly reverted to type and you seriously wonder if the players will have the bottle for what is to come and Wotte seems devoid of an idea of how to fix it. Desperately hoping I am wrong, but it doesn't look good right now. We have just drawn three matches that were easily winnable and that form simply won't keep us in this division unfortunately. I think everyone should hope for the best, but prepare themselves for the worst.....
Ewell Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 I hope they are right but the first 70mins yesterday were awful' date=' no fight, no pattern and no alternatives[/quote'] I was at Blackpool and I agree we were pants in the first half. I thought we improved after the break and although we did not create much we could have snuck a fortunate win. I have seen us in much worse positions and we have got out of trouble. The thing that concerns me the most is many fans cling to every negative from each match and have resigned themselves to going down. The point I want to make is whatever your views on them we are stuck with Lowe, Wilde, Wotte and this group of average players until at least the end of the season. Surely it is better to try and rekindle some Dell spirit, get behind the boys and try and at least do our bit in getting out of this mess. I for one will be breaking my duck and going to my first home game this season against Charlton. I hope some others who have not been attending will also come out of the woodwork and join me. Rory Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 I think we're lucky to have a game in hand but, as it's Watford away, we'll lose it and once that happens we'll be dead and buried. We have a tough, tough run-in.

I agree extra numbers against Charlton would be great and i believe the support given by us who attend games has been superb, the Dell spirit as you call it requires a response from on the pitch as well and my concern is that the team should have been pumped up for the game Saturday but as you said we were pants to start with. The concern must be that the worst positions you mention were when we had MLT i just cannot see who is going to be the hero this time.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 I agree the situation still looks dire but all the time i can see a positive i will still sit here with faith and hope. End of the day we have had better form then the other teams down this end of the table battling and also have a game in hand. Yeah we will probably lose and my hopes be shattered but at this stage we are not dead and buried. For christ sake look at charlton that is an example of no hope remaining, we are 3 points from safety(ish) and have a game in hand, AND i also believe our run in is not quite as daunting as some of the others. rooney Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 It is true we have tightened the defence admirably but the problem is that we just cannot score many goals. This will be our downfall I am afraid. Therefore Negative.
londonsaint1604 Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 The last game I saw was QPR and we didn't look much like a team fighting for survival. There was no real urgency about them and although they created some chances and probably should have scored, that was largely down to QPR doing absolutely f**k all themselves. Having said that I think it's too close to call and will probably come down to the last game, so anything can happen.
aintforever Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 Agree Wotte needs to earn his crust and shake it up because the performance on Saturday against a poor Blackpool team wasn't good enough. I would try Skacel in midfield, this is a guy who scored 16 goals in one season from midfield for Hearts, he was top for assists in our playoff season - he is wasted at left back IMO. OldNick Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 At half time saturday i felt that w3 may well have been doomed. A point was better than i had feared. This time last season we had lost to Hull 5-0 and then followed that up with a 0-0 at home to Coventry. What our league postion then was Im not sure as Im having trouble finding a league table at that stage.

londonsaint1604 Posted 23 March, 2009 Share Posted 23 March, 2009 I don't think they have that info. As I remember it we were hovering just above the relegation zone but I don't think we had any prolonged periods in the bottom 3. Although I could be wrong about that.
