If it really does go tts up next season, then if we follow AFC Wimbledon's experience and we start at Level 9 of the footballing pyramid, then we will be playing:

Wessex League Premier Division 2008-09

vde

Alresford Town | Alton Town | Bemerton Heath Harlequins | Bournemouth | Brading Town | Brockenhurst | Christchurch | Cowes Sports | Fareham Town | Hamble ASSC | Hamworthy United | Hayling United | Horndean | Laverstock & Ford | Lymington Town | Moneyfields | New Milton Town | Newport (IW) | Poole Town | Romsey Town | VT F.C. | Wimborne Town

There's some cracking derbies in there and I can't wait for away days at:

Brading & Newport - Booze cruise there and back

Fareham - another interesting walk to and from the train station

Romsey - who will Stu support

Hayling Utd - Getting back across that causeway could be interesting

Poole - Do we get to watch Speedway as well

Lymington - Crouch will be torn

Alton & Horndean - Cheap beer I presume

Bemerton - You won't have to pay, just sit on that bank

Problem will be that we will not be able to afford the ferry fares to the Island :) 4 return fares per season will bankrupt us.

Poole Town v Saints would be extremely convenient 'away' game for some of us .

On a more serious note the reintroduction of regional leagues might well be the way forward for cash strapped lower league clubs .

Pity they don't play at the Speedway stadium anymore...Some rec/school.

Will we travel well and will the team be able to get off work for the mid week games.:D

I used to live just around the corner from the Brockenhurst ground and remember seeing Stevie Williams playing there for Saints 'A'.

Bit of a sobering thought, but Wimbledon have done really well, so far and Scarborough are setting off along a similar route. It may be years, but those clubs will prosper, because they are founded on a solid base by fans. They have just got to beware that they don't let 'businessmen' in the back door.

Saints have been metaphorically going to the dogs for years so it may be grimly appropriate we end up sharing a stadium with our canine friends . Beware mighty Poole Town - they currently have one of the best records in English football .

They didn't own the Stadium..The speedway.Dog racing...Rented then ejected over payments...No money/debts slide down hill but after playing at various locations over the years have worked their way back up...Never a fantastic fan following....They are definitely trying to sort something out with council etc re ground/improvements...Good hardcore of supporters1 2 hundred

helpers etc....Not sure maybe Hamworthy way?

Remind you of many other non league clubs...

That is where I first met Graham Carr the comedian Alan Carrs dad..Weymouth v Poole at the stadium...Wanted to fight and was only The manager of The terras:D.

Dave is top Manager and very astute....

Pre season should always be foreign....The scandinavian Pine trees of Netley Victoria Park...Games against Netley, Hamble and maybe Warsash Wasps to give us a real tester.;);).

''The scandinavian Pine trees of Netley Victoria Park'' ... takes me back to my yoof, jumpers-for-goalposts, three-and-in; who will we be today?

Channon? Stokes? Osgood? David Peach if we had a penalty. Kids with heroes, running free on a bed of pine needles, thanks for brightening up the end of a long day!

Vospers too good for us now I think...Playing at St Marys soon/

Borrow some of their players if not Dave Diaper the Manager.:)

Lol, played against them and they really are quality. The Mason's will be class in a few years and PJ at the back is like a brick wall.

Think they could beat saints now

My mate is the stadium team announcer at Brading. I have watched them a couple of times this year ...decent defence but poor up front.

Home pitch suffers from poor drainage but decent catering ;-)

Gallows humour fella!!!!!

Walking to the Charlton match, a few of us were discussing this possibility and tried to imagine what an away game at Cowes or Newport would be like!!!

We reckoned 500 away tickets, but a couple of thousand just going over for the pss up and fun.

Couldn't believe we would still be playing at SMS in that division, so imagined we'd be groundsharing with Eastleigh or maybe someone on the outskirts of the city like VT, Queens Keep or Totton. Or maybe develop something at Test Park, Five Acres, Green Park, the Veracity Ground LOL, etc etc etc

Mental image of little dingies with to many ****ed up fans, trying to row across, couple of nutters trying to swim and the harbour master on a loud speaker announcing they will nick anyone caught in a dinghy they don't actually own :D:D
