Bailey Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/8068325.stm As it says on the tin really. Could prove to be a good signing for another Championship team. We won't get much for him in terms of a transfer fee, but once again, it seems that wages are the problem. Makes you wonder what he's on and who would be willing to match his demands.

Doesn't bear thinking about does it. We may have told him to go seek life elsewhere but a contract is a contract.

Ludwig Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 Surely he'll want to move even if it means dropping wages? If wouldn't be enough of a tit to cripple us with his wages and play in a crap league would he? Doesn't help that he hardly impressed last season anyway. He did impress when he played last season tbh, 9 goals in 21 or so games wasn't too bad.
kpturner Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 He did impress when he played last season tbh' date=' 9 goals in 21 or so games wasn't too bad.[/quote']Was that about £10k per goal?

Window Cleaner Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 Was that about £10k per goal? Well no it'd be a lot more that that wouldn't it. July 1-Jan 31 is 7 months at say 38K a month=266K for 9 goals so that's roughly and in the region of 30K a goal isn't it.Add on some NHS charges and stuff and you're probably looking at more than 40K a goal. Add on part of the 2.1 million that we paid for him and it's.....f*cking expensive.

SaintRichmond Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 If we're serious about getting out of this league then he's the man, but can we afford him? IF he is still under CONTRACT, and IF we cannot SELL him, and IF we cannot LOAN him ...... THEN PLAY HIM Might as well get some use out of him ..... saves him wasting on the bench whilst still earning Mega Bucks ......

I know its absolutely the done thing to say how cr*p someone was after they stop playing for us, but lets be honest please: before Burley decided to it was a good idea to regularly drop our top scorer, he was quality for us. Would you swap him for any of McGoldrick / Paterson / Euell? I would swap him for all of them - which would make him quite cheap in comparison

It would be great if we could see what terms he was on and that just might explain why the club were determined to get shot of him.If he is being paid but does not mean appearance money , scoring bousses , loyalty bonusses etc etc then play him if not just try and move him on.I dont think he is much of a team player and never very interested in being a supplier to his collegues
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 There you go - right on cue. Hardly a 'rant', hardly a 'notion', and a bit more than an 'opinion', I would say. Alanh Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 We have got to get him off the books, but like Leeds did with many of their big earners, I bet we have to pay a proportion of his salary for the next year in order to complete a deal with a buying club. This is a great example of why the new buyer (if there is one) has to do due diligence, otherwise they could find themsleves having to fork out the best part of £450K (50% of his annual salary) for a player who's no longer at the club. The9 Posted 26 May, 2009 Share Posted 26 May, 2009 Quite, sending Saga out on loan to Aalborg was definitely the right thing to do based on his half-assed efforts pre-season at Salisbury, and Rasiak wasn't much better (though he wasn't given much chance to do anything). Stern John at least looked like he was trying. IF... (etc), it'll be interesting to see who looks like giving a crap preseason this year, IF... (etc). Best we can hope for is away games at Sholing,Eastleigh and Totton, if the council gives us 18 free bus passes to get there.

Are Sholing Sports reforming? Splendid. They'll have to go some to knock down all those houses and get the ground ready in time.
