I’m not sure how anyone can argue Smallbone wasn’t decent for us in the Championship last season. Same with Aribo. We didn’t need an under performing Alcaraz and didn’t need to find a way to cater for him. It’s perfectly okay for players to go on and do well at other clubs, 3 clubs later, but it doesn’t mean it renders everything we did in the Championship as shit. The lad also had the option to go to Juventus that January, hardly going to be competing with that even if he’d played every week. Player doing okay at a club 3 clubs after playing for us isn’t news unless it’s an opportunity to have a dig at Russell Martin. Much more of a reflection of our recruitment. He’s not as good as Fernandes so I’m not even sure where you would fit him in necessarily. He wouldn’t be competing with Downes or Uguchukwu so maybe as an attacking option? Sure. If you had told me we’d end the season with Onuachu and Sulemana back in the team, Armstrong not at the club and we hadn’t replaced Adams with anyone particularly effective then yes, I’d have said can we at least keep Alcaraz. But I suspect, like our manager, we all hoped our recruitment would was going to work out a little better than that when he was sold permanently (which funded Ramsdale btw).

Shackled by having to pass the ball to his team mates 🤣
-
I don’t think ‘players will love him’ is the diss you think it is.
-
I don’t disagree that his service has been woeful and I’m sure he could contribute to a side built around him but I’ve literally watched him jump for balls going straight up and down and miss them completely. I don’t think his control with his head is particularly great and would suggest his heading stats are somewhat masked by his height and defenders not fully engaging and aiming to pick up 2nd balls. Btw side note whilst quickly looking to see if I could find some decent evidence beyond headers won (he’s high on headers lost too btw) and more specifically what happens with those headers I noticed that both he and Ramsdale are in the top 10 worst passes success percentages in the league. Along with Pickford and Beto as well. That doesn’t particularly bode well for progressive goalkeeper we are trying to sell or his target man being particularly effective.

He is poor in the air. Despite how many headers he wins. That's my point.

I think people are just pointing out it makes you look a little silly and obsessed. But hey, you keep spelling it Wussel for no reason, that'll look really funny and cool.
-
He's 6'7 and the fact that this surprises you says quite a lot.
-
You can be as horrible as you like, I'm just pointing out that lecturing everyone on how terrible he is as a manager when he's the only manager that bought your club success in the last few years and you didn't make any real improvement in anyone from the outsides mind when he left probably makes you look a little deluded and obsessed. I probably wouldn't want to be seen in other threads clamouring for managers who are "proven" and "safe" and then naming a bunch who themselves have fan bases who will laugh at you either.
-
Or maybe he's done quite a decent job everywhere he's been as a manager? People have their issues with Martin and seem weirdly obsessed about talking about him consistently on here but the rewriting of history isn't needed.

Daily reminder that spending a couple of years in the Championship will involve losing quite a lot of matches and an increasing amount of tension/anger/declarations of the team being built not being good enough and people will 100% mind.

You okay man? Every post you come across quite bitter, doesn’t feel healthy.

Random post 2 years after their last...

Stop saying "MartinBall"... you're a grown man.
-
I’m not even sure what’s that supposed to mean but good to know that not jumping to wild conclusions about 19year olds you know nothing about is now a clubs party line 🤣
-
I think I just find it a bit mad that people can make wild conclusions, assumptions or theories about people’s attitude because of some small moments in games. But yes, we disagree.
-
It is what would satisfy you though isn’t it? Because he played an hour or so in a ridiculously defensive set up against Man City just 2 weeks ago were he, and everyone else, was asked to play a disciplined game in which they could barely press beyond the half way line and yet you’re out here questioning his attitude. Well I’m not sure where you were sitting but he started our fourth game of the season from my seat after 3 sub appearances before that. But yeah, reluctant ffs 🤣
-
He’s young and doesn’t run around like Brett Ormerod or drag us out of relegation like MLT so it must be an attitude problem. Bore off. The lad went from being an unknown kid with a manager who he described as a 2nd dad building a team to accentuate his best traits to being asked to play under 2 different managers with 2 different systems neither of which suited him or probably anything he done in previous youth teams. He’s not going to run around like a headless chicken ever in his career and nor should he just to appease some deluded crowd members who want to pick on the kid from the academy again.

The Championship is a league that last time we were in it a) he didn’t want to be there and b) the manager who got us promoted that season didn’t seem at all arsed about it. There’s nothing like a handful who barely moves, barely jumps, barely holds up the ball and has barely looked threatening unless it’s put on a plate for him. He’s not very good and we won’t be playing in a way that suits him. Thankfully.

I don’t think any of Lens strikers are particularly tall. Seems to favour much more mobile strikers who can press heavy and react quickly to high turnovers and quick crosses rather than the old school aim for the big man type crosses. Onuachu nowhere near mobile enough for that and is incredibly out of his depth in this league on almost all fronts as evidence by his performances over 1.5 seasons now.

He’s not just a multi-millionaire business man though is he? Honestly, I kind of understand why people are thick enough to see the obvious red flags but decide ‘lol loads of money is great and social media tells me it’s great so it must be so we will beat everyone haha’ but to just be completely oblivious to them and think he’s just a business man is thick beyond belief.

Follow some independent and good journalists in boxing rather than bots/accounts funded by this guy. Fella.
-
Yeah I’d probably read up on his character and then think again if I were you. Step away from the sports washing content and then make a judgement.

Okay Charlie. You keep convincing yourself of that whilst watching the fights in empty drab stadiums in Saudi and being told by social media bots how great it is whilst the rest of the world goes about their daily business without caring about this man.
