  1. Pretty poor game so far. Palace look more dangerous than us - and we've again gotten away with conceding a goal thanks to a tight VAR decision. We must be league leaders in that. Accident rather than design, though. Boufal has looked bright, though on a completely different wavelength to everyone else. Doesn't feel like a goal's coming (for us) but all to play for. 2. Why would anyone be nitpicking what was one of our best team performances in aeons? Everyone contributed to a deserved result. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  3. Sensational performance - didn't give Chelsea a sniff! If you put together a compilation of our last few away games (Arsenal, Newcastle, Villa, Chelsea) you'd think we were a top eight side again. The manager's got us set up nicely on the road. If only we could transfer that assuredness of foot back at St Mary's. Armstrong had his best game in a Saints shirt. Ward-Prowse had his best game in a central midfield two. Stephens was flawless. A great team effort - a cracking way to meet the halfway point of the season with a little forward momentum. Merry bloody Christmas! Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  4. They're not great at home. Breaking down teams that set up deep is not their strength without Hazard to pull the strings. I think Lampard is quite limited tactically. Unfortunately, we don't play that way - we've been adventurous and open on the road, and half decent as a result. But that'll probably suit Chelsea quite nicely. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  5. Getting £15m odd for Targett was decent business. He was terrible against us - we'd be livid if we'd spent that much on such a poor player (again). Can cross a nice ball, but there's nothing else about his game that is remotely close to Premier League level. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  6. All right, all right, all right. Pretty cool. Thought we played quite nicely (albeit, Villa were appalling), and should have had an even more comprehensive victory but for some sloppy play at both ends. I wanted to give the much maligned Stephens a big wrap for his uncharacteristically competent defensive performance - but then he blotted his copybook in the last few minutes with two characteristic lapses in concentration that caused a bit of panic. Still, you've got to take what you can get with our defence. 18 points at almost halfway - will double that keep us up? At least we're still hanging in there, fighting. Onwards. Merry Christmas everyone. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  7. Think Romeu needs to come on. We're losing every 50:50 out there. Physically, they're dominating us. The midfield is non existent. Ward-Prowse is invisible. I wish Hojbjerg was - he's having one of those games that happen way too frequently where he doesn't even look like a professional footballer. Can't do anything. More goals in this for the Hammers. We're definitely one of the worst three teams in the league this season. We have nothing going for us at all. That's my three pearls of wisdom. Enjoy the rest of the inevitable, folks. 8. I said in the build up Antonio would bully us. Pace, power, fight - all the things our side desperately lack. And he's not much more than a Championship trier. So, so bad. Hopeless. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  9. How poor is this? We look awful. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk

  11. Wonder if we'll eye up a few loans, given our lack of funds. A lot of very good fringe players gathering dust at better clubs. Someone like Hamza Choudhury at Leicester might be a good fit. Needs the game time for his development, and is ideal for our midfield: dynamic, quick, physical and very good on the ball. Bit of a nasty streak too. Similarly, Maitland-Niles has fallen out of favour at Arsenal (albeit he got a rare start last night) and might like the chance to play regularly in his proper position (cm) rather than as emergency right back every now and then. Classy player with a bit of everything. Kyle Walker-Peters is a promising right back getting no action at Spurs. I think there were a few board rumours in the off season about us having an interest. Phil Foden could make England's Euro 2020 squad this summer, if only he played some football this season. Wonder if he could be tempted to leave his comfort zone for six months. Chelsea might be worth watching during January now their transfer ban is over. If they go big for a centre back, and Rudiger returns to full fitness, Fikayo Tomori will drop way down the pecking order. He might need a loan to stay in England contention. Superb prospect: pace to burn. If we genuinely could swap some or one of our outcasts for Kristoffer Ajer at Celtic, that'd be good business too - although a 21-22 year old centre back doesn't fulfill all the criteria we're crying out for, beggars can't be choosers. Tall, rangy, decent turn of foot, good on the ball. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  12. It's not that he's good, it's that the alternative - Valery - is appalling. Did you not see the 0-9? Wouldn't have even gotten a game for a Tyro League u10s on that performance. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  13. Need to get a lead to hang onto for when we inevitably hit the wall after an hour. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk

    Che Adams

He'll prove a good buy if we're in the Championship next season. He's a trier, but not with much quality. The new Shane Long. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  16. He's not good, but he has never put in a more inept display of defending as Yoshida - our most experienced centre back - phoned in against Leicester (0-9). I think it's perfectly reasonable for the manager to never pick him again. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  17. How can we turn this around? Our midfield consists of one guy - let's call him Pierre - who loses the ball whenever it bounces towards him, and another guy - James - whose first, second and third thought is "how can I pass this backwards". All our best passing moves in this match have ended up back with the goalkeeper. Absolutely pointless football. You could take off anyone at half time and they'd deserve it. And equally, it'd make no difference. We're so bad it's unreal. This is going to finish 3 or 4 nil. (That's my three pearls of wisdom for the day. Good luck everyone else.) 18. Deary me. One hopeful long pass, Sarr outpaces Stephens, 0-1. We look clueless all over the park. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  19. Sarr and Deulofeu are an absolutely rapid front two. They'll ruin us on the counter if we're not careful. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  20. Slattery's a slow plodder too, unfortunately. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  21. Way too lightweight to play in the middle of the park. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  22. I'd forgotten how injury prone Armstrong was. When he was a regular starter at the beginning of last season he was always picking up knocks. These two being injured is actually a disaster as we can't play the same tactics as last week without moving Ward-Prowse further forward and bringing in Romeu - our brief flirtation with a mobile midfield grinding to a sluggish halt. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  23. I'm not sure I'll ever get over Ward-Prowse shooting from the halfway line when we were on a 4 on 3 counter. I mean, how can you even begin to explain the complete lack of professionalism? Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  24. Best performance of the season by a mile. Not taking our big chances - they weren't half chances - or being ruthless enough in really promising counters (Prowse and Hojbjerg making terrible, selfish decisions) killed us. Should've been 3 or 4 up before the inevitable late equaliser. If we could play every week with that level of commitment and endeavour, we'd scramble to safety. But I suspect we won't - there was no pressure on this game; a shot to nothing. We'll be expected to win the next few, and totally **** the bed. Thought Bertrand had a great game. What a difference he makes when he decides to turn up. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
  25. For what it's worth, we've played okay. Look like conceding every time they attack, but what's new? When we inevitably lose in the second half we can at least take some comfort in having given Arsenal a good game for 45 minutes. Ward-Prowse shooting from the centre circle when we're on a promising counter attack, though... Never been a player. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
