The Premier League ordered all clubs to respect the winter break and not organise any games during their time off - the whole point of it coming in is to protect the players' welfare. For the FA to then organise fixtures during the break - to hell with the players'welfare - is far more arrogant than Klopp following the rules they all agreed to. The winter break was inked in a year ago. The FA have had all that time to plan their flagship competition in a competent manner, accomodating these changes. You don't have to think. He played CB against Fulham and was fine - kept a clean sheet - and CB away to City a few days after the 0-9 and wasn't notably awful in a somewhat creditable 3-1 loss. Or you could watch any of his previous games at CB for Augsburg, when they weren't conceding ten goals a week. He's a decent young centre back who has had no chance to settle in to a new club in his proper position due to the absolute state of the team in the first third of the season. Unfortunately for him, his role in the squad now is as a sacrificial lamb, plugging the gaps in our poorly balanced squad. It's not a loan that has worked out for either player on club so far, but that's the way it goes sometimes. It doesn't make him a write off as a footballer. Danny Ings' loan last season wasn't exactly a raging success either. It's a pity for the kid, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes on to have a good career. It's bizarre how much of a well oiled machine we are on the road while we continue to struggle to find the right set up at home. Spurs are killing us in transition. Just like Wolves did. And West Ham before them. It's only a matter of time before they make one of their breaks count. Not sure Obafemi is contributing much. Perhaps get Romeu on to sit in a midfield three and allow the wingers to push higher in support of Ings. Game's still there for the winning - thanks, Gunny - but not if we carry on on the same path. Redmond created our only two other chances from open play - missed by Cedric and Long respectively - and hit the bar. He played pretty well in an otherwise poor team performance. Funny game - don't think we've played well at all, but two-up is not to be sneezed at. Jiminez has missed a couple, though. Fingers crossed we don't give him an early sniff in the second half and the match peters out. I worry about Prowse getting a second yellow. Whether it's the miles he's covered lately or what, he's been arriving late to every 50:50 today. Even though he doesn't have the legs for a pressing game, he is our ONLY alternative central midfielder when/if Hojbjerg or Ward-Prowse become unavailable. Can't see him being allowed to leave in this window unless we're replacing him or recalling Harry Reed. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk

Unless he was insanely impressive in training, I can't see us making his move permanent. He's on a long, recently renewed contract at Augsburg - I'd expect the asking price to be well over £15m. Do we have that kind of money to throw around on a squad player. I like his raw materials and think he could become a really good centre back, but I doubt it'll be at Saints. Hard to narrow it down to one player - our squad is on a knife-edge in so many positions. If either full back gets injured, we're screwed. It sounds as though the manager wants that addressing this window as priority number one. Hojbjerg and Ward-Prowse are our whole midfield now. If either gets injured or suspended, human wheelie bin Romeu is the only alternative and there goes our pressing game. And obviously Ings is our only forward who scores. Norwich are cut adrift now - at least in terms of catching us - but 19th to 8th will be looking over their shoulders for at least the next few months. It's a tight one this season - no-one is truly awful. I think it might be one of those rare years where someone drops with 40 points. Has anyone seen a VAR breakdown of Leicester's goal? In real time I was sure Vardy was well offside in the build up but it was totally glossed over in the broadcast: no replays, no lines drawn on the screen. I know all goals are allegedly checked by VAR as a matter of course, but it seemed weird that there was no mention of it and then the game just restarted. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk

Diego Forlan, against us for Man United, got a late goal, took his wet shirt off and swung it around his head, and then couldn't get the twisted thing back on as the game restarted. He played out the last few minutes topless, farcicaly carrying his shirt in one hand. It was a bit of a spectacle. Wasn't a good game, but we got over the line, rested some important players, gave a bit of experience to a couple of youngsters who'll definitely benefit from the run out; and the manager and board got to see ahead of the transfer window that our squad players would struggle in the Championship. Thought Smallbone offered little, looked very lightweight, but took his goal excellently. Reminded me of Hesketh's "breakthrough" against Palace. Not overly convinced he'll make it. Vokins was much the better player. Gets caught way upfield too much, but has great recovery pace and a decent engine. Could do with a bit more physicality and positionally there's plenty to learn, but I think he's a worthy long term investment. He had nothing to do, but it was also nice for Gunny to keep a clean sheet in his first game since the Leicester horror show. Seemed fairly confident. Adams is a write off. No quality. And he hardly even gets into goal scoring positions. Long might miss chances, but at least he understands the game enough to turn up in the right places to miss them. Not great. No pace or intensity in the game. Of the kids, Vokins has looked okay, Smallbone pretty anonymous. Danso at right back is still a round peg in a square hole.
