I think this is what most, other than a select few, were calling for. By far, ability alone, the best player at the club. If we can get him anywhere near his full potential, which is a long way off just yet, he could arguably be the best (ability wise) ever player to put on a saints shirt (IMO).

At a guess 90% of his posts are (I appreciate that this post is probably fairly hypocritical). I don't understand why someone would want to spend so much of their spare time making snidy remarks and look to start arguments with other posters on a football forum, rather than discuss and have an opinon on football, but each to their own. You'll grow to ignore it

Why? controlled the midfield and offered everything Davis doesn't in the deep lying role. Without Romeu (who's been pretty average this year anyway) we could have easily been over ran and overpowered in the middle and without PEH we would have been. Outstanding performance. Austin and Tadic very close behind, IMO.

A free hit as far as I'm concerned... keep them below 3 and I think it would be a decent performance. Focus should be to keep confidence high going into Bmouth next week. Need to set up like we did against Liverpool last season, defend deep and try and hit them with pace on the counter. Whilst we will not want to give Sane and Sterling room in behind (which is why we will need to defend deep), we cannot afford to give De Bruyne any room in the last 3rd. I'd be tempted to play 3 holding CM's and get them to man mark Silva and De Bruyne. ----------- FF ---------- CS -- VvD -- WH -- RB ----------- OR --------- ----- PEH ---- ML ----- NR** --------------- SB ------- MG / SL -------- ** He's been sh!te and doesn't deserve a start, I know that, but I think NR would offer more on the counter than Tadic and JWP. Instructions would be to not over complicate things and simply beat his man on the outside (which would be Delph) and attack with pace. If Sims were about, I'd go for him instead. Same goes for SB (who I think would track Walker back) on the left. Will be a long night for whoever plays up top, will require a lot of hopeless running and need to be clinical if and when given a chance. Prediction: 3-0 City.

Austin is probably our only true 'no9' and our most natural goal scorer. The trouble with Austin is, whilst he holds the ball up and links play well, he offers very little else outside the box. I think MP has a decision to make and if he wants to play Austin, he probably needs to slightly tinker the way we play (as we seemed to do yesterday). I think he's let himself down a bit as i'm not convinced he's as fit as what he should be, but hopefully a few starts will kick him into gear. If he can get himself into peak physical fitness, he'll score 15-20 goals a season (playing to his strengths), but only he can do that (similar to Lambert, he changed his lifestyle at a similar age and went on to another level or 3).

There is no doubt that if he is going to play, it needs to be on the right hand side. I think he complemented Cedric well, who offered most of our attacking threat down that side with his sheer pace. That being said, I still think we can and need to do better down the right, IMO. Something I would address in January.

Like a different team today, well done MP. PEH my MOTM, but Boufal and Austin close behind. Bertrand, Cedric, Hoedt, Tadic and dare I say it JWP had a very good game. Played with much more intensity and dominated from start to finish. Trying not to be negative after a 4-1 win but Everton we’re truly awful. A dead cert for relegation if they continue to play like that.
-
Fantastic again today as he has been for a few weeks. Really starting to influence games now... Who’d have thought that given a run of in the team he’d improve and show his class
-
Tadic and Austin linking well... amazing what playing with a true no9 can do
-
Foul on Boufal and a clear penalty not given. Demonstrates why players go to ground easy. Bright start, Boufal and Cedric stood out for me so far.
-
In fairness I was only referring to attacking players. But you’re right Gomes would replace Forster as would probably every other keeper in the PL, at the moment.
-
It’s not real mate. Pretty sure science has proven there are only 2 genders. If you believe you are neither then you probably have some form of mental illness, which is real and should have much more attention than this nonsense.
-
At the back, maybe, but in attack, Watford look lethal, the best of the rest so far by a country mile. And who doesn't like to see a goal or three...? Personally I’d only take Richarlison and Grey. I think it’s more down to how the team have been set up, rather than quality of players. If you compare Boths records in the PL... the evidence is pretty damming in Silva’s favour. Puel Matches: 42 Wins: 13 Draws: 12 Losses: 17 Goals For: 46 Silva Matches: 31 Wins: 12 Draws: 6 Losses: 13 Goals For: 42 So Silva’s teams win more and score more goals (also half 20 odd of these were with a truly terrible Hull squad). To me it’s pretty easy to make decision on who’s the better manager. Imagine what he could do with a decent squad....
-
Sort of goes to show how un thought of that competition is really..... Generally it’s seen as more of a nuisance until the semi finals.
-
Just like Puel then. As for better, who knows. Puel is good at what he does, but not everyone enjoys watching his style of football. And he was the wrong man at the wrong time for us. Silva plays a different style and is much more entertaining and seem to have decent enough man manegment skills. Therefore, I’d say for us, he’d be a better fit. I’d also argue that Watford’s squad isn’t as good as ours.
-
Tbf a couple of those (very few) who didn’t rate him also want Nigel Adkins back
-
2nd half much more like the Puel team we know and hate. Could do with a draw here. West Ham win (which on the balance of play looks most likely) wouldn’t be great.
-
Same. It’s truly dreadful. If you’re willing to waste money & time on football, go watch our U23’s / 18’s in the Southampton Cup against a Wessex team. You’ll probably get a better level of football there.
-
No need to speak about Kat like that. She may have sold us down the river and sold us to the investor interested just to line her pockets, but to attack her personal appearance is out of order.
-
After watching them tonight this has the potential to be the worst game ever dished up at St Mary’s So I’m going for a 4-4 thriller
-
Google mate. I'd say she's probably a 5 or 6/10
-
What has she brought to the club? Not a lot. Out from me.
-
I wonder if we will try Stephens in at CM? a CM pairing of JWP and SD is terrifying
-
Spot on... On his day, which has to be said are becoming a rarity, he can be unplayable and is one of the best players in the league. Unfortunately I think he needs to move on to find his form again. I think he'd do well at Liverpool.

We have the cringiest, happy clapping, 'snowflake', embarrassing fan base in the football league. Twitter protests, disgracefully written letters to owners, sh!t songs, terrible atmosphere, a large % of men over the age of 15 wearing replica shirts, clapping opposing fans, men in fancy dress and much more. I'm sure every club has there fair share of idiots, but we seem to breed them. Have a good look at yourselves ffs
