We've had skin-tight shirts for the whole of the adidas contract, it hasn't been a problem yet.
-
We did last year! All the UA shirts out so far are for South America and last year's style, not seen a legit 2016/17 leak for Under Armour.
-
Cheers for that, just picked up the home socks for £4 click and collect. Wasn't paying £12 for generic adisock12s apart from in the slime green which aren't a standard colour.

Update, as I've just got the black all weather coat. It's nothing like the blue WINTER all-weather, much thinner and more of a raincoat design. The blue winter all weather is padded with fleece lining, the black all weather isn't.

Saints are 'increasingly hopeful' on Victor Wanyana signing a new deal
The9 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I'd be surprised if Wanyama doesn't put in a shift against a potential suitor... Will be interesting to see if we go Wanyama/Romeu or Wanyama/Clasie. I'd go with the former, but that's because I assume we need to defend against them in order to score more. Difficult one to call, which is all good... -
Pleased the Bournemouth game is on the box seeing as our allocation is only going to be at most 1200.

Quite. But if Van Gaal abandons his principles to try and outscore us like he seemed to against Newcastle we'll have a chance. -
Ormerod did well for Saints, a hard-working player who never gave anything other than his all, and a presser up front who created plenty of opportunities for Beattie with his closing down and workrate. Excellent goalscorer in the lower leagues too. I was, however, nearly as delighted at the sitter he missed in the 2013 Conference Play-Off Final for Wrexham as I was with the goal he scored in the FA Cup Semi-Final for Saints. Also enjoyed his winner against Cardiff for Blackpool in the 2010 Championship Play-Off Final.

Haha, brilliant. Schneiderlin's won-lost record for United tells you all you need to know about Van Gaal's management skills at the moment. Hardly his fault they left him completely exposed defensively by playing Fellaini "alongside" him and that's the only game he's played for them this season where they haven't looked good defensively. -
Nope. You can barely use them against the full-price shirt!

I bought number 1, found it exceptionally dull, bought number 2 to see how they'd do without months to accumulate content, it was even dryer, and didn't buy any more. I think they may have got to 4 before the bloke disappeared off the footbridge. I think there's a place for decent content alongside all the stupid/funny/cartoony stuff, the problem is without unique content of some kind people don't have a reason to buy it. Hence my options of either very professional, or just loads of thrown together "funny to someone" stuff with a lot of volume, there's no real middle ground. I do recall Daren Wheeler considering relaunching Beautiful South in the past 5 years but he had some discussions with the club and they made it pretty clear he couldn't do it they way he wanted to. Clubs are also a lot more litigious and protective of their brand than they were in the late 80s/early 90s.

Last season's were own-brand and you can't still get them, was it from the adidas season before in which case probably only the aesthetics of the design will have changed slightly?

The Academy, how many PL quality players has and how often?
The9 replied to norwaysaint's topic in The Saints
Our U-8s to U-12s might be superb due to the EPPP, but that's not going to help the teams recruited in the 2007-2010 period much. Plus we've still got an Academy full of Championship and L1 prospects like we always have had, along with a few Prem players - the fact is that apart from the top half Prem-level players they'll probably have to sign for someone else to prove that unless we get relegated again. There's also little point in recruiting into the U16s group other than for absolutely can't miss prospects, because those players are already expensive or with the top 6 sides, and the whole point of this is cheap development. You've missed the fact that playing for the U18s in UEFA competitions is something that kids at big clubs who never get a game for the first team do (or in Middlesbrough's case, kids who only need to be Championship standard to play for the first team anyway). Aside from the Boro ones, *they're* the kind of players Saints sign a handful of for under £5m aged 22 when they're getting booted out the other side and are fed up of sitting on the bench. It gives better results (Bertrand and Romeu seem to be proving this so far) as it's a lower risk to pick up the top "nearlies" from CL sides for a few million and the experience they've gained, than it is to spend £2m on a 16 year old who's never been at that level and try and get him there. Saints have brought through a pile of top level players in the past 10 years and that reputation won't go away just because we only make, say, 50% of the U18s into Championship or L1 players in the long run. One of the reasons the sides are weak is because the age groups progressed ahead where the likes of Shaw or Chambers went into the squad. -
Yeah, they've been on sale since the advert popped up on the scoreboard at the Arsenal match - initially it was buy one get one half price, but they added a few more ranges and dropped the price of most of them. There are still some items at full price though so watch out!
-
We'll be able to buy players from all but the very top European clubs with the new money though, provided we can persuade them not to join the other Prem sides who can also do the same. Of course as some of the revenue figure comes from League position it's important we stay above 23 Aston Villa 148.8 24 Leicester City 137.2 25 Sunderland 132.9 26 Swansea City 132.8 27 Stoke City 130.9 28 Crystal Palace 130.8 29 West Bromwich Albion 126.6 though Stoke, Palace and Leicester are going to be an ask this season. Then again, we could jump 5 places compared to the likes of Schalke, Dortmund, Milan, Inter and Atletico depending on how they do with European prize money.

Can't read it, the Echo appears to have an ad-blocker blocker. Well, it's worth a try, but I just won't go to their site any more and we'll see how much "advertising funds local journalism" then.

Bit harsh on Baldrick, tbh.

I don't know how to tell you two this, but no-one cares. Take it to PM. -
Clearly they have a reason for not wanting it on a Saturday evening unless they have to do so. I should think it has something to do with advertising rates for MNF compared to SNF. Also, if they shift our game to Saturday they run the risk of not having a midweek game at all, which is inefficient. Having Plan B and publicising it is clearly "planning".

I quite like that kind of access, but it can be a little wearing. Every time I suggest something Newport County might want to do to my aunt when I'm at a match, she says something akin to "tell the Chairman, he's standing next to me". Not really my thing, unless of course they want to pay me for it. The last one was their ridiculous food selling kiosk. Place order, pay till person money, walk to another queue, stand around waiting, get asked what you ordered, tell the server absolutely anything you want and they'll give it to you under the assumption you already paid for exactly that. I can't imagine how THAT could be costing them a fortune over the course of a season... All they need is a notepad or a raffle ticket to give to people to collect the order, or something.
-
Saints rather than Southend, I assume?
-
That time I said he was England's best central midfielder, circa 1998.
-
No reason not to, though I'd prefer it if he signed for Newport. It'll break him in to grown-ups football pretty well, I think he'll do well though, reminds me of Pelle despite his nominal wide position.

We're irrelevant, and the sooner we realise it the better. I'm just glad it's not the week before, we're away until the Sunday and back for the Monday.
