Barton are in the Southern League Central Division, which is below the Southern League Premier Division, the Conference South, the Conference and then you reach the League (2) that Portsmouth are in.
-
It is certainly an issue for my "never going to happen" policy of picking every available Saints player and plugging in 2 CBs, plus the good England players (i.e. Hart, Wilshere, Sturridge and Rooney) somehow.

Welbeck's cack, looks like a shuffler, cannot control a ball and never seems to have a clue what he's doing. One nice finish against Swansea to his career. Sturridge is awesome, except when he's cack (which has been about 2 matches this season). I still think the latter is much more likely to be successful as a footballer though, you have to be able to control a ball to do anything with it. I'd have Lallana in Barton's team ahead of Welbeck or Townsend every day of the week.

Let's deal in the facts, a quick Google gives me this list: London 7.2 Million Birmingham 992000 Leeds 720000 Glasgow 560000 Sheffield 512000 Bradford 467000 Edinburgh 450000 Liverpool 440000 Manchester 420000 Bristol 380000 Wakefield 316000 Cardiff 310000 Coventry 305000 Nottingham 285000 Leicester 280000 Sunderland 280000 Belfast 280000 Newcastle upon Tyne 259000 Brighton 248000 Hull 240000 Plymouth 240000 Stoke-on-Trent 239000 Wolverhampton 239000 Derby 230000 Swansea 225000 Southampton 220000 Of that list I have been to the following which are less attractive than Southampton: Birmingham 992000 Sheffield 512000 Bristol 380000 Coventry 305000 Leicester 280000 Newcastle upon Tyne 259000 Hull 240000 Stoke-on-Trent 239000 Wolverhampton 239000 Derby 230000 Swansea 225000 I've not been to Sunderland, Bradford, Wakefield or Belfast and I'm pretty sure they'd be contenders too.

It's definitely Kitson, Google "Secret Footballer Kitson". There's been a bit on the nutjob thread with some links to various parts of the stories, good luck finding them.

I don't remember Beasant doing stand up either, so my recall is sketchy at best, though we were car-sharing with a Skate on my University course, so maybe we blagged our way out or something - I shall ask the mate I know was definitely there. I remember being kept in after the two Prem matches very well...
-
Cheers for that Steve, I hadn't seen them either, goals from God's Count®y. Why they felt the need to change their socks from red against Amber, who knows? Washington who scored the first is a regular starter, but County have 3 injured strikers at the moment anyway - I didn't even recognise the second scorer as Newport just got him on loan from some other south walian side, didn't think Pipe's sliding tackle was even a foul at first look (he's a reserve now too), and yeah, handball, Skate.
-
My recollection of that match was Beasant up front, them fielding 12 players, their fans invading the pitch and chucking anything, especially copper coins. I don't recall being kept back because leaving us in there we were just sitting ducks - but I do recall having to run around Fratton and hide behind a wall at one point just to get back to my car.

What in the holy hell is this about? I haven't been so confused since the last thing ART posted.
-
FWIW we had an awesome time, though the price of beer in Manhattan is bloody ridiculous and the exchange rate was cack in April. Already want to go back, with more money.
-
Yep, first minute, saw that, should have put the money on then, they might as well have waved the white flag at that point.
-
Strange that he didn't mention the most important bit, don't look up to see where it goes until the ball's well on its way. Head up = leaning back and no amount of top/sidespin will get that back down again. I like the repetition in the routine, getting to a point where you know that because of your body shape no matter how hard you hit it it's going into the slot between bar and top of the wall means you can get more pace on the ball too.

If you tweeted the exact same message as Shaw I doubt you would get ANY criticism for it, because people aren't bitter and twisted about that fact you earn lots more money than them.

As it stands, do we have a better team than ENGLAND?

Or how good Pardew and/or Adkins were at signing Prem players for teams in L1/Championship. -
Of course the logical conclusion to this is that no-one "does charity", ever, and everyone just donates silently to causes they feel are worthy out of the goodness of their heart. That would lead to most charitable causes ceasing to exist, because most people don't do that and need a bit of guilt or a reason to do so. Shaw putting himself in a position where his followers chose how much he'd have to donate is a reasonable way of doing that - anyone wanting him to have to pay more just had to retweet numerous times. There's nothing wrong with publicly being given credit for doing good things.

Worse, it's about the Chile game in the context of finding the players and system for England to be successful in Brazil - though I suppose it's reasonable to at least check that new players aren't going to slot in well BEFORE trying to change it.
-
That's why I'm saying "pick 6 Saints players plus a keeper, some CBs and DMs and fit Rooney and Wilshere and maybe Sturridge" and start from there with OUR system, it's hardly a secret, we nicked it from Bielsa (who ironically used it for Chile) and it would reduce the amount of initial coaching needed. Plus they have the best part of a month to get it right pre-Brazil. Of course, there's the issue of whether England can provide a coach to make the system work, as well as whether a high press will be possible in certain World Cup locations nearer the equator. But it's got to be better than the Imperial War March by roboclones like Henderson, second in the group and out in Round 2.
-
The Skates must be chuffed about not having to face mighty Stevenage, given that their first team lost to them in the FA Cup. Other than that, I really do not care about this game very much.
-
Doh. Seemed like the only way that kind of money could appear in the accounts of a L2 side. In that case is it the Parachutes due?
-
"Personal reasons". Even on Soccer AM a few weeks back he was saying how much he loved it at Saints.
-
It doesn't say he won't be donating. The only things wrong with this are 1) the nobbers on Twitter having a pop at him 2) Elliott Bennett not knowing the difference between "accept" and "except".
-
Is that £11m "other debtors" the amount they owe to former players?
-
I thought that people generally were underestimating Chile, who were always going to put a strong side out in a match against one of the top UEFA nations in the run up to the World Cup. Add to that that there was no real effort to integrate the new players OR the fringe players, and the England system is nothing like the Saints one and it was a recipe for disaster. I wouldn't have Rodriguez anywhere near the squad even for an experimental side at the moment anyway. Lallana is on such good form at the moment he was always going to shine no matter what, but it was obvious from the first minute when he went to press the ball in the Chile left back position and looked around to see he was on his own, then stopped pressing, that there wasn't any change to England's system and the Saints players were going to have to try and impress despite the system, not because of it. Star Wars Imperial March moment for me was Henderson and Cleverley coming on late on. Welcome to The Future.

Dunno if we've been through this before, but on that link above is the "valuation of Fratton Park" document which is vaguely amusing in a few places... http://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/media/Cab20130227rAppBB.pdf "underlying land value has been severely depressed because of the need for demolition of the stands and of the possibility of contamination at the site with the resultant remediation costs. We have received a quotation and advice from an experienced local demolition firm and there are three main reasons for the high cost of demolition we have included. Firstly, they understand that there may be asbestos present in the stands which would be expensive to remove. Secondly, the North stand could potentially have fill beneath it, possibly hazardous, and this would need to be removed. Thirdly, the West stand runs parallel to and abuts residential gardens, therefore this elevation would have to be demolished by hand rather than by mechanical means unless permission were granted to demolish from the residential gardens. I have therefore included a figure of £1,000,000 to cover the costs of demolition. " It'll cost a million quid just to knock Fratton down!
