  1. I used to buy for 20 people at about £15-£20 a time, plus another couple/few hundred for whoever the girlfriend was at the time - I think some of the early 2000s ones when I still had a full complement of grandparents, was buying for all aunt and uncles and their kids, and had a lot of disposable income got up to about £700 in presents, plus going out at least 3 or 4 times in December purely for Christmas with various work dos, and buying clothes for it, etc., and travelling to all my relatives and sometimes all hers too. Reckon 2001 would have set me back at least a grand including petrol from Wales to Cambridge, on to Liverpool and back. But then my mortgage was £120. None of that daft crap now, I basically buy for one person and a couple of bottles of wine for some others and she buys for her family, we set a sensible limit, I don't go on any work dos (partially due to a different social culture) and petrol will be one trip to my home town and back and people can meet me there. £400 max.
  2. How do you draw a line UNDER the sand, anyway?
  3. He plays like a top level world class player, only runs when the ball's in the attacking third (which doesn't suit our style), and flounces about everything. That would be fine if he hadn't passed the ball straight at the keeper when he did get a chance. Needs to either work harder, score more, or stop bloody moaning. Clearly has a pile of talent but Arsenal away might not be the place to see it at this stage of his adaptation. Reminds me a lot of Balotelli in the way he only becomes active when Saints are attacking though, not my favourite thing in modern football.

    Boruc

Anyone claiming there was any kind of foul is some kind of deluded Boruc apologist. Two high-profile, worse-than schoolboy, errors against Stoke and Arsenal, he's in negative equity with me at the moment- and I didn't have a problem with the "bottle" incident last year at all. Happy to support him, and was one of those shouting encouragement to him when he came near us to collect the ball later in the half, but SERIOUSLY, WTF was that?
  5. I'd expect us to be looking to sign players to replace the ones who can only make our bench - but then we did sod all last January transfer window, with the exception of signing Forren and that Pochettino bloke.
  6. Heath was before my time, so the penalty at Fratton for me, after that I was pretty much resigned to it.
  7. All written and popularised in the early 2000s, and therefore a concept which is a good 10 years too late. Almost like Pompey fans thinking there may be some kind of funding issue at "their" club.
  8. Especially when you can buy 250 of that album's stickers for £20 on eBay.
  9. I have been reliably informed by my co-attendee that we were indeed kept back - I remember all the missiles, front and back, didn't remember being there after they'd cleared the pitch, but do remember being VERY late to the rendezvous at the car and hiding behind a wall/shrub thing.
  10. I have assumed all our players are on massive Champions League qualification bonuses and none of them will want to leave / Cortese will just break out new deals if there's any interest. If we're in the top 6 there would be no reason to leave anyway. Tomorrow could be a big indicator towards that.
  11. "Premiership", FFS.

    Fifa 14

    Bombonera, Boca Juniors.
  13. Probably gave him the PA of a Champions League player, the tool.
  14. He looked like that when he was still playing.
  15. To be fair the original article was pointless and aimless wittering drivel.
  16. Frankly, as she is someone who became a celeb for being the one who wasn't a celeb on a celeb reality tv show, I couldn't give the tiniest of sh!ts about her, her big placcy baps, or her bigger real gut. That's 30 seconds I'm not getting back - why does the thread title say "celebs"?
  17. So they based some of this year's allocation decisions on the Man United game last season going on general sale? The one that was midweek, in Manchester, in January? And another for a match against City which was live on Sky on a Sunday during the summer holidays and cost £53 a ticket after booking fee? Genius. As an aside to the general uselessness of the website nowadays, which is basically not worth going to other than for away ticket news, I went to 10 away matches last season and didn't even know the Chelsea tickets had been announced by the time they'd sold out.
  18. I'm a SaintsWeb Exclusive.
  19. For those of you lacking ESP, the link mentions that Veggard Forren was the one who fouled Christian Eriksen, which might have led to him being out of the match between Saints and Spurs, but probably won't.
  20. Seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to post about, the OP only said "not happy", not sure it deserves all the sarcasm. I want to know more about this "gate" in the Chapel - what's it for? Where does it go? And yes, I am serious. It's 150 yards from the nearest away fan, is it just to stop Chapel proles sneaking into the expensive stands or what?
  21. Bored at 1am, something to look up re: Barton, doesn't take much.
  22. Quite. Just not interested in it, all our best U-18s are involved at a higher level, it means nothing.
  23. He did a lovely little job in the Beckham Quarterback role in front of the back 4 pinging Hollywood balls to the wings without needing to tackle or risk injury, so I was less worried than when he was haring around closing stuff down until they scored a few. Lovely free-kick too, put it exactly where he did in all those practice kicks on the FA's website. Good job San Marino didn't see them.
  24. Though all of our U-18s might be in the first team by then, or playing for England or something. I don't really care, tbh. They beat Moneyfields 12-0 and they're a Wessex League Premier side.
  25. Much easier to administer, and when that's already the club's policy for dealing with the "inconvenience" of away ticket sales, I can't see them jumping up and down to have to deal with this headache.
