  1. I mentioned earlier that Lovren looked like a malfunctioning robot last night, but that I blame Yoshida for that too, as he was having to do twice as much work. I actually think he may have had a concussion, which will make him doubtful for Saturday, but we'll see. Absolutely did not see any skill by Agbonlahor to beat Yoshida for the first goal, it was just him getting pulled ridiculously out of position, getting rolled on the turn and completely failing to position himself where he could defend the pass or influence play after that. I thought Lovren's dive in was actually a very good attempt at surprising the striker, knowing that he was screwed if he stayed on his feet, as it would give Agbonlahor enough time to play a square pass to an unmarked player. He clearly went for a slide tackle-cum-block and tried to get enough on it to put the ball off the pitch without risking a red card for bringing the player down. But he was put in a no-win situation, it was a miracle he got the chance to get a tackle in.
  2. Couldn't see any of them. By the way, I agree with that thing about not being able to see quotes from people on ignore.
  3. We haven't played any of them yet.
  4. Apart from last night, when he looked like a robot with a slight malfunction. Worst game he's had for us since pre-season, and I'm blaming Yoshida for that too.

I hadn't actually noticed JustMike had stopped posting.
  6. He uses his "high" hand to try and stop the ball (and hasn't, so far) - Boruc made a save early on against Chelsea in the exact same position as the one Gazzaniga let in from Terry's header - he's a few inches taller than Boruc but seems to jump under the ball. He made the same dive for Delph's goal, which to be fair few keepers were stopping. His positioning against Everton for Jelavic's goal last season up there was dire, and he could arguably have done more with the one on one and the short-range header goals yesterday, and his kicking choices were dubious on occasion, but to be honest, I just want him to have a game where everything hits him.
  7. Despite not being remotely bothered about this, turns out I'm bored on Tuesday and therefore going to watch it with 11 others. It is still just a kids' game though, nothing important, though I do expect some cringeworthy bile aimed at the away fan.
  8. Sorry, completely disagree, I thought Cork was very good - switched the play quickly with numerous accurate crossfield passes and effectively when he had the ball and looked a load more confident on the ball than Wanyama had, in a game where we didn't need a defensive midfielder of his type because Villa just launched quick long balls and counterattacks up the wings and the ball was never on the floor in the middle unless we already had it. Unfortunate to get caught on the ball for the second goal, but losing it out on the wing with half a team behind you shouldn't be the problem it became. Yoshida, however, was utter toilet and almost entirely the sole reason we lost.
  9. Nice to see Exeter's statement that basically says "we'll let Tisdale talk to anyone".
  10. Sky sources presumably = online odds, assuming Skybet bothers with League Two managerial vacancies of course.
  11. Which was the one that I got wrong too.
  12. Utter waste of time. I'm also extremely cynical that he didn't just use a variety of different automatically rendered images at the various stages, reverse the process, i.e. start with a finished image and mess it up, and then play the video backwards.
  13. He is super efficient, before Sunday he only ran when the ball was likely to be passed to him. Sunday he bust a gut closing down in the first half.
  14. The problem here is impatient people with unrealistic expectations, not Osvaldo's performances. People are saying "give him time" because 6 matches is a completely unrealistic timeframe for judging a player. Anyone can have a run of average performances when adjusting to a new location and system.
  15. The point of the ground regulations is to help ensure the club can get a safety certificate to allow them to open the ground. But seeing as they're usually the responsibility of the council, and the council looooooooooooooove them, I wouldn't be surprised if they were just giving them one irrespective.
  16. They won't catch Newport either way.
  17. We knew this when the repayment schedule for the player creditors was published a couple of months ago.
  18. We're 7th in the Premier League, by the way.

    Boruc

It was a decent header but I'm confident Boruc would have saved it. On the bright side, transfer window is open in 4 weeks, we'll only have played... 7 matches by then.
  20. Who was he playing against?
  21. I'd be interested to know how you think playing a high defensive line reduces our chances of scoring goals?
  22. Spurs have also had loads of shots at goal this season.
  23. We were very good against Arsenal, 98% of the time.
  24. Provided we don't lose both Schneiderlin and Wayama at the same time, our defence looked fine against Arsenal away with Hooiveld and Fonte, so I'm less worried about that than I was before that game. The lack of depth is the main problem with Saints' squad at the moment, but we're now looking at it in terms of top 6 competitiveness and not just top half. We actually need a new keeper, at least one CB, a left back, another DM, wide midfielder and striker we can slot in - and probably a Gaston replacement, in order to be able to challenge in every match, rather than just the ones we have a lot of recovery time for, or when we don't have any injuries or suspensions. Some of those might come from the academy, but they're not there yet, and are unlikely to be top 6 quality from the start (though to be fair, JWP and Shaw have been, and Chambers isn't too far away).
