  1. I haven't seen him since the U21s got stuffed at St Mary's by Chelsea, and he was nowhere near good enough then. Rowe, Reed and Sinclair all looked close, everyone else wasn't there yet.
  2. Richards is widely thought to "not take instruction very well", which isn't really an asset for a modern player, especially when Saints' system is so different to most other English clubs.
  3. Only with a different foot and from about 15 yards nearer. Thomas actually swung a cross in from the same area of the pitch as he scored for Saints from for Tamworth yesterday, and set up a goal in the FA Cup 1st Round.
  4. If we lose any of the following it will have a significant detrimental impact on our season: Boruc, Lovren, Shaw, Schneiderlin. Pretty much all the other players we have decent cover for and would need a couple of injuries for it to be a problem. We've got a bit of depth in wide midfield/attackers, but these 4 are key.
  5. He was indeed, they announced that he was booked on the previous Tuesday on MotD2 itself!
  6. Have you also bumped the duplicate time interval up to 50 seconds? Some of us are far more prolific than that, FFS! Give us 30 seconds back!
  7. Expensive and dangerous, plus I don't speak Portuguese. I did my time with World Cup '94 and '98, Euro '96, 2000 and 2004 anyway. If I had a spare couple of grand I'd be thinking seriously about it, but suspect at best I'll be in France in '16 as there will be loads of half-full grounds for 3v4 games.
  8. There's only value if it happens.
  9. Too niche.
  10. I like this for its pure stupidity, needs a lyrical tweak to replace "all mine" with something more football related. Also, no need to apologise to Lindisfarne, they're backing Gazza on that version too.
  11. He's probably glad he's got his own song, even if it does involve having a party with vodka and charlie. Victor Wanyama was being sung at hyperspeed and sort of worked. Steven/Kelvin was amusing, Dani Osvaldo nicking the Gaston tune is a little awkward (have we had the startling revelation that Gaston's probably already with Uruguay yet after the comments about Suarez being flown to Turkey by Liverpool for the World Cup play-off and that's why he was able to play but Ramirez wasn't, or has everyone just assumed he was dropped?). There was a James Ward-Prowse "used to be a Skate..." song but there was another more popular one which I've pretty much forgotten, and I think that's the 6 new songs (not England-based). Add to that the 3 players "off to Brazil" and "Southampton Off to Brazil" and that's 10 songs I hadn't heard more than about twice before October started all in the mix. Not bad going.
  12. Steven/Kelvin made me laugh, in fact all of our "new" songs (I counted 6, not including the England ones, though I wasn't at the Fulham match) were pretty decent - even the This Is How It Feels thing was obviously being sung as "Tell Us How It Feels", so half of my complaints about that have gone now.
  13. Google proxy sites and away you go.

    double thread

More interesting that the "if this true it crazy" thread, or the one about not honouring 11/9.
  15. And anyone who's been following this thread will be more than aware that there's probably going to be lots more admin and takeover fun as soon as they start having to pay their bills without parachute payments, or the fans/owners get bored with bumbling around mid-table in League 2 whilst still having creditor payments scheduled until 2016. This is just a lull before their in-fighting and more financial problems begin, and yeah, we're happy to poke harmless fun at them in the meantime.
  16. You only have to look at the way the knuckle-draggers refer to things like people requesting law-abiding behaviour as "grasses" to see how little progress some of them have made since (or indeed in) school. As far as "mong" goes, my opinion of all perjorative terms is that unless you're using it as an insult to someone who actually has that affliction/state/condition/life choice/skin colour, there's no reason to consider it offensive. Eg "Your hat is gay" - why would a gay person consider something being gay an insult? Can of worms, anyone?
  17. Nice Google, I couldn't find anything when I looked. Highly amusing to see that (possibly due to me looking for the Secret Footballer on Google recently), The Guardian is advertising the new book on that page when I look at it.
  18. It was merely a logical response to your question based on the table positions resulting from that specific game. In reality we've already beaten plenty of bottom half sides so the question isn't being posed and hasn't been for weeks.
  19. It says our style is designed to work best against the top teams who tend towards a passing game and isn't always so effective against teams who don't do that - it might also have something to do with the pure amount of mental effort it takes to play the full press that we're more motivated to do it when we're playing top sides, who are also less likely to park the bus against us, at least at the moment.
  20. No, because Hull were in the top half until we played them. Also, West Brom have moved into the top half, removing the 3 points we had against them from the equation, so it's balanced out. I'd be more inclined to think as we're 3rd and we've only played 3 top half sides that THAT suggests we can beat lower half teams.
  21. Still, top half would be a decent achievement and that's my minimum expectation, as it stands.
  22. Hopefully we'll get an early goal, because Hull are pretty solid. I'll go for 1-0 or 2-0.
  23. How have we got a 4-2-3-1 then if the 2 don't play as a 2?
  24. Me too, very very rarely bother posting anything on there though.
  25. I'm pretty confident we'll finish in the top half, but we don't have the squad to finish top 5 at the moment.
