  1. I'm definitely hoping for more attacking play from our new man. Bertie is still a good player though
  2. I've said it before - I don't think Bertrand could play Ralph's system anymore as it requires a lot of running at full back, but he may well do a good job for Leicester
  3. Also Brazil haven't won the world cup since 2002. Football has changed a lot since then
  4. Because Rashford is better defensively? I'm not amazing at picking up that side of the game but presumably that is the reason. Plus Sancho has never really done anything in an England shirt when he's been given the chance
  5. Sure. I mainly take issue with the idea that we're not interested in him and blind to his qualities, which is more negative, club-bashing nonsense. Maybe we'll get him but I'd say there's a fair chance that another club will come with a more attractive proposition, either in terms of money or to challenge further up the table
  6. More likely we are interested in Armstrong but the price won't come down to what we want to pay
  7. I have to say "I told you so" to all those who wrote off England's chances against Germany, but I also have to say that for a team with 7 defensive players on the pitch, we didn't half concede a few chances. Germany are not great and I was expecting us to be more solid, though we did the business with the goals we scored
  8. I haven't checked back but I read that this is basically what all the recent winners have done. Defensive is the way to win these days unless you are really amazing
  9. If the system works then the two DMs should cover the full backs when they go forward. It didn't work last season without Romeu though
  10. England aren't perfect but so many of the "big" teams are nothing to be scared of
  11. All those players play in different positions though where it is easier to impress as a small lad. Mings still doesn't have the ball skills to play anywhere else, so it's easy to see why his size would have meant he couldn't stay with us. It's no good for your development if you're not even able to compete for the youth teams, regardless of potential future growth
  12. Go on then, which smaller players were kept? Bearing in mind that central defenders need to be larger than attacking players do
  13. I think we'll make mincemeat out of Hummels, he's way past it
  14. Legend!
  15. How many players older than 22 have failed at a club, gone out on loan, done quite well and then come back and turned out to be good? There must be examples but I can't think of any
  16. We're a better team than Germany and I think we'll do them
  17. Unnecessarily negative. I'm confident we'll sign at least one other player for a decent fee
  18. Have I missed the sarcasm here? England were totally defensive with their 3 at the back system in the World Cup, and most of our goals came from set pieces
  19. First they get Van Wolfswinkel who we should have gone for, now this
  20. Pure speculation but if the Chinese government is now discouraging its wealthy businesspeople from getting involved in football, it wouldn't be a good look for him to be touting the club's commercial wares around the country
  21. Isn't Norn Iron a bit different to Scotland and Wales though because it has such a strong unionist sentiment?
  22. As I understand he didn't buy the club to make a profit. He did it because the Chinese government was encouraging it and he wanted to get in their good books so he could get favourable treatment for other business deals back home. Then the Chinese government changed its mind and he got left up the creek. LD Sports was a sham and the only thing where you can strongly criticise him IMO
  23. If KWP moves on next summer then we'll need them and if he doesn't then we can sell. It's not ridiculous to invest in a youngster with potential - it's our whole business model. And with injuries I'm sure there will be opportunities. Unless you want Cuco Martina playing for half a season because someone has got a serious injury
  24. I think that would be totally fine to be honest. It's a much different position to GK
  25. You might say the same about Smith-Rowe, who is surely even less likely to join?
