  1. Examples?
  2. I do the think the speed with which the transfer happened will have blindsided the comms team a bit. They'll have had a choice of working extra hours to get a dedicated story out, or just work something up quickly from Ralph's interview. No brainer really.
  3. It's not necessarily a bad thing to push a falling out if we knew he wouldn't sign a deal and we wanted him to go
  4. I have a bridge to sell and I see many potential buyers on this forum
  5. I obviously have no idea about the terms of the add-ons but I imagine they rarely get paid in full
  6. I think the transfer happened very quickly because Villa wanted to get it done before Grealish goes. There was talk of it being done in 24 hours. The fee may have been conditional on getting it done quickly. No time to prepare social media activity. Saints will have said to him we've had a good bid from Villa and we want you to take it please seeing as you're not signing a new contract. Danny could have dug his heels in but evidently decided he was up for the villa project, and also perhaps felt it would help the club if he could leave for a good fee
  7. If £5m of the £30m is in add-ons then presumably Liverpool will get even less?
  8. He flung down his shirt and seemed to mouth something like "What the fuck is going on? I'm done with this rabble!"
  9. They got it from here. Don't know if reliable
  10. I just don't think it's realistic to think we can bring in someone as good as Ings. He's top class, apart from his injury record. But it doesn't mean we'll get relegated with his replacement
  11. If we want a direct comparison, Ings scored 20 goals in 40 games in his last Championship season, for a promoted club. Armstrong has 28 in 40 for a club that struggled, albeit at 2 years older
  12. You'll have to take that up with him. I'm just explaining why you misunderstood
  13. Yes you can, because he is more confident that Edouard will make the step up based on his physical attributes
  14. What he said does actually make sense. He's evaluated both players based on their attributes, and given doubts over Armstrong's attributes, it is particularly relevant that he is unproven in the Premier League.
  15. People need to stop taking everything Ralph says as gospel. He's just reeled off a few players to give them encouragement
  16. If the Ings transfer tells us anything it's that we'll hold out for a good price. There's no way we'll go as low as £40m for JWP
  17. Every player has a price
  18. The extra problem is Blackburn don't think Oba is worth £6m
  19. You would hope, but we still need Blackburn to come down to a sensible asking price, or we're being ripped off. Which means playing a waiting game
  20. Exactly, I don't know why people always have to leap to the most negative conclusion. Have some faith!
  21. We definitely need full back cover but if Williams isn't offering value at £2m then I'm sure there are other players who can do the job. Remember when we missed out on Sangare and went out and spent more on Diallo? It's never as simple as one player holds the key to everything
  22. So the only alternative to relegation is signing Williams?
  23. I agree with this, but hopefully if we can get full houses back at St Mary's this season, then we won't need as much of the loan as we feared and can pay back a big chunk of it early without incurring interest
  24. My minimum selling prices: JWP: £48m Ings: £20m Vest: £16m
  25. Did Le Tiss actually stay out of selfless loyalty to the club or was it just that it suited him to be here? He's come from the Channel Islands and deep down he knew that a place like London would be too big for him. Plus he'd have to work harder in training and on the pitch. Did Benali or Dodd stay with us out of a duty to the club or because a big offer never materialised? Ultimately everyone makes decisions for themselves I think.
