£10m would be utter madness. I would take £5m and gettig his wages off the books. Would be quite Saints to ask baulk at more than £14m for Adams and ask for £10m for Austin...

Mario Melchiot is the new coach?
-
Good negotiation tactic from Saints re Adams.
-
We won't be going for him, clearly as per i.) Common sense ii.) All the comments about the types of players we want to sign One interesting one, some of the Belgian reports say we have dropped out the race for Vanheusden after talks, as have targetted a different CB. http://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-dropped-out-in-race-to-sign-player-wolves-still-in-the-running/

Academy Graduate Jamal Branker has forged a good career for himself as a professional tag along for millionaires JLingz and Luke Shaw. A master in his field, according to recent reports.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/17587618.amp/ Detail here and Glover not officially confirmed but as above looks like he is at Saints.
-
They basically said that there would be a role for oversight of the Academy which hasnt been filled. The ones that have are Wilson in the Football Ops role and Glover in the recruitment role (replacing Wilson who replaced Reed).

People don't still fall for these obvious fakes do they?

Can be good to walk away in negotiations and presumably pressure will be applied from Adams' side. That said, £14m does seem light in todays market and if he is genuinely a top target then it seems a shame to not get him, if that is what happens. If Brentford value Maupay at £20m...
-
We have probably already decided to sell him. He doesn't fit Hasenhuttl's style and if we get a good offer he will be off. PL doesn't suit him and a good 30mins versus Namibia doesn't change that.
-
I reckon this either happens this coming week or not at all. Hopefully it does if he genuinely is our 'top target'.
-
If he has a good tournament and we get a decent offer for him that will probably work best for everyone.
-
I'm sure if we don't make an offer considered good enough by Birmingham and another PL side do then he would happily join them. If he wants to come to Saints it gives us an advantage of course, but we will still need to make an acceptable offer. We have no idea what their asking price is and therefore whether our £14m is likely to be acceptable. They know that as the window gets closer to closing then teams will get desperate. Little incentive for them to cave now just because Hasenhuttl wants signings in early.

Via Kristof Terreur (@HLNinEngeland): Genk’s right back Joakim Maehle got linked to Sevilla, Napels, Dortmund, Atletico en Man United in a paper in Danmark. Genk haven’t heard anything from United and they haven’t approached the player either. AWB is still United’s main target, but no final agreement as yet. IMO since Valery's emergence this one is over. Maehle would want to be a first choice and Valery deserves to be after last season.
-
In todays Market, £14m seems a bit underpriced, but you can't argue with the principle of the approach.
-
Ongoing presumably. But he isn'y good enough for the PL anyway.
-
Hopefully we get this done soonish as we clearly want him. Saw a video from the Birmingham Mail where their Leitch was talking about him and said he is much better up front in a two and has only really flourished with Jutkiwicz alongside him. Wonder if we are planning for the 4-2-2-2 but if we are then we badly need a CB who is a bit quicker, and alround better, than what we currently have. Will be ripped apart otherwise.
-
Might as well offer Clasie a free tranafer if he foregoes his wages and then can negotiate something with AZ. He seems desperate to stay in Holland so probably workable. Signing hasnt worked out, but doubt the fee was overly big and his wages probably not our highest either. He probably wishes he had never left Feyenoord. Feel a bit sorry for him.

Sorey but this is a load of ****. Bertrand had been good enough to make an appearance in a Champions League final when he signed for us. He joined us as a player who hadnt had a consistent run of games in the PL but straight away looked a competent player as a replacement for Luke Shaw. Whenever Targett plays in the PL he looks a weak link whose lack of pace is exposed by the opposition. He never takes anyone on but looks to cross early, and thats his best attribute. We always improve when Bertrand is fit again and he always plays ahead of Targett because he is much better. If Targett wasn't a Saints Academy graduate he wouldn't be on our list of left backs to replace Bertrand. In simple terms: he isn't good enough to be a regular PL LB. And he never will be.
-
No way we can play that system with our current CBs and central midfielders. We would get ripped apart.
-
Is Sims actually good? Seems to me he makes an impact from the bench once every year and then is quite poor in subsequent appearances. The facts show Bowen scored over 20 goals last season whilst Sims struggled to get a start for Reading.
-
Good value at that price and Saints still seem to be most comfortable operating in the 12m - 15m bracket.

From the Manager himself (in the BILD interview), if we do everything right we can finish 10th. I think that is about right, would be very tough to get higher. Shows how brilliant finishing 6th, 7th and even 8th a few years ago really was. Will be hard to ever do that again given how much finance is dictating things.
