https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/celtic-rangers-and-southampton-battle-for-charlton-athletics/1rtamjdbvea8e117sf714werp1 Joe Aribo linked again. Available on a free. 5live last night mentioned that Man City were keen on him as a squad player so he must have something about him. Worth a watch in the Playoffs and low risk signing so could be a good option for us - no real downside.
-
Surely if Gao wanted to actually invest more cash in the club he wouldn't need to go to the cloak and dagger lengths that some are purporting this to be? Its not like he has invested anything additional so far, so we aren't going to be remotely near any need for creative accounting to satisfy FFP and the like. On face value, its a company that barely seems to exist, and the website is, quite frankly, comical.
-
Will be good to watch him develop a partnership with his national team colleague Vir...oh.
-
Need to get him signed on a new deal, but it might be difficult. Sure he will have some interested teams higher up the league.
-
Great goal to end a great season. Was our best player again today, despite the three wallies behind me that still slag him off. Baffling.
-
I would because we won't be signing Mitrovic. He doesn't fit any of the criteria that RH has spoken about with regard to signings.
-
Not that we would likely have got him, but this has to be bad news for clubs like ours if it happens. This is 'our' market, last thing you want is the big clubs dropping into it and moving for the likes of James, Adams, Bowen etc.
-
These type of games also show why its impossible to stop players moving to CL teams, its the pinnacle and where they all want a chance to play. Our lads probably gutted that an Awards Night and open training session interupted their viewing of it!
-
Exactly the type of signing we should be making IMO. Young, English talent. Sign, develop, sell...
-
Mane is probably worth four times what they paid.
-
From watching a couple of bits I sensed some players felt a bit uneasy at adulation considering overall its been a poor season again. Ralph said he wants fans to show more appreciation of the team at the end of games rather than rushing off early. Also appeared that Redmond saw the irony in being voted PoTS by some of the same wally fans who gave him over the top stick last season - he certainly wasnt gushing about how much it meant to him and instead thanked his team mates.
-
IMO this is madness and very nearly got us relegated. If Ralph is poached, just like Poch Koeman, Mane, VVD etc it will be because he has made Saints good again. Surely being good is what every fan wants? To enjoy watching a good team. If Saints fans have learned anything in the last 7 years its surely to enjoy the good times, realise where we are in the food chain and that our way to punch above our weight is to be the PLs best stepping stone club. That got us to 6th. Your idea nearly took us down.
-
I remember watching the clips of that from the pre WH presser and I don't think RH was that clearcut in his response. He was quite evasive. I wouldn't read anything into it. Its pretty obvious lots will be going.
-
Possibly. But thats Saints. Better to be a good stepping stone than absolute ****e.
-
Well if we had taken Silva instead of Pellegrino I am 100% sure he would have done a better job.
-
I think we could quite easily find buyers or loan options for: Austin Gallagher Cedric Hesketh Reed Targett McCarthy More difficult certainly to get rid of permanently would be: Carillo Clasie Boufal Stephens Forster Elyounoussi Also - lets be honest, we have been poor for two and half years so its not just fringe players who have let us down, its the ones that have played as well. Wouldn't suprise me if we listened to offers for Yoshida and possibly one or two other suprising ones if RH felt he could use the cash to improve the squad. For me we need 5 additions: RB CB CM 2 x pacy forwards
-
I would focus on selling the players who aren't good enough for the PL instead.
-
Lineup makes sense now we are safe. Forster needs to play. Elyounoussi last chance saloon. Gallagher is surely done.
-
Remember the same. Sounded like an absolute fiasco. Thats why I doubt all the first team will trek over for this pointless game.
-
Imagine the 'Southampton XI' in Macau will be the U23s seeing as the Dublin trip directly overlaps it. Odd timing otherwise. Imagine that trip aside RH has been given free reign to plan pre season which is great.
-
No brainer to give Forster some game time in the PL. How can you realistically expect to sell or loan out an £80k a week player who hasn't appeared for 18 months in any professional game despite apparently being available for selection? Answer: you can't. (Besides, wouldn't be hugely shocked if he is no2 keeper next year. McCarthy probably has a better sale value and we don't need both)
-
All in good time, pal. Not actually sure thats Glover. Think this is him below. Is the other guy Martin Semmens? Unless you want a joint profile on the two Mart(y/i)n's?
-
Hasenhuttl very clear in today's presser that we will spend - and need to spend - but also said that how much will be partly dependent upon fees we can get for players we sell. Nothing controversial but he was very clear about it which is great and also sets out his position at the start of the summer. Over to you Ross and Martyn!

Signed with much You Tube fanfare, waltzing past 16 year old defenders from Den Haag reserves, Steve turned out to be a small upgrade on Dany N'Guessan rather than the star many anticipated. He was quick, possibly Jonno-quick but he was something of a headless chicken and best used as an impact sub. He played 36 times for Saints, scoring 3 goals, most notably an equaliser away at Reading. Ultimately though, Stief87 left in 2013, having had his contract ripped up by a snarling Nicola Cortese. Fed up with De Ridders performances, Cortese had minutes earlier identified the man he wanted as a replacement, with a powerful young striker catching his eye during the highlights of Zambia vs Ghana in the 2012 AFCON semi finals.

Key question: why are JWP being compared? They are different players who do a different job for the team. Both are having excellent seasons, with Redmond likely to win a fully deserved Player of the Season and JWP rightly in the top 3. Why do they have to be compared to each other? Both will start every game in the same team!
