  1. I was at Fulham away where Ausyin tossed in the least committed performance I have ever seen from a pro at Saints. By contrast, Lemina was excellent and gave everything, despite how crap the situation was. Pre RH, all of our best performances under MP and MH were when Lemina was on form.
  2. Do you think overall that Wilson's recruitment has been successful?
  3. He clearly had an operation, that is 100%. So beyond that I guess Saints and Lemina have no obligation to explain exactly what that operation was for. I don't understand the conspiracy theories. He played around Christmas after RH said he had struggled with his stomach muscle in training. It clearly showed in the games, as he was subbed at HT in a couple. They gave him rest which didn't improve it, so he had an operation and is now rehabbing from that.
  4. Somewhat baffling. We go into a huge summer recruitment wise, regardless of what division we are in, with the same person who has under performed massively on recruiting players for the past three years. An odd one, and no sign of these new roles Krueger referred to in his latest round of interviews.
  5. Easiest team selection of the season for us, assuming Ings and Lemina not back. Gives them 3 weeks to get back in contention for the rest of the season.
  6. It was the right time to let him move on, but we replaced him terribly. Overall I really liked Tadic at Saints. Yes he was inconsistent but he was also extremely creative and a key part of the best Saints finish of my lifetime. Seems like a good guy as well with a great attitude. Pleased his move has worked out.
  7. It doesn't have to be an expensive contract, just a longer one. Players haven't ended up leaving because they have signed a new contract, they would have left anyway. Longer contracts = bigger fees. Its a no brainer for someone like Valery who is probably on a tiny deal for a player who is now a PL regular. Doubling his wages would still make him earning far, far less than most of our squad.
  8. So because of Forster we shouldn't try to get promising young players to sign longer contracts? Glad you aren't in charge!
  9. Get him signed on a long contract. Has earned a pay rise for sure.

    Cedric/Maehle

Wonder if Valery's emergence will impact on future interest in Maehle? Obviously we will need another RB, but with Valery developing so well I see him as a starter next season, and Maehle would be arriving as a first choice you would think. Would having both cause one to stop developing?
  11. Agree. Under Hasenhuttl we have been a largely decent side, unfortunately we chose to have a dip during the msot key run of all, but we have had the chance to take points in every single game under him aside from Arsenal away. There has been a big improvement. The reason we are where we are is almost entirely due to a dreadful summer (and January) window and Hughes not giving the team any structure. I havent checked, but imagine since RH came in we are probably not even in the bottom 6 for results during that time - a good achievement.
  12. Obviously we all knew, but he is levels above Targett and should start every game until the end of the season. In the summer we should try to get him to sign a new contract and refocus under a good Manager. Targett will never be on the same level as RB - which is no slight, just a fact.
  13. Usually these things are subjective but this year if anyone doesn't say Redmond then they are actually wrong. The only people remotely close would be Bednarek but he has only played half the season (not his fault) and Hojbjerg but he has missed too many games through stupid suspensions at key times. We would be already relegated without Redmond. He has been consistently good, even more impressive as an attacker in a poor side and given what happened last year.
  14. He is 20, what do you expect???
  15. He has clearly done very well since the the Cardiff game and has performed better than Cedric this season, whilst showing a clear progression the more minutes he has played. One of the few bright spots of the season and can definitely be a PL starter next season if we stay up. He obviously has some good attacking moves in his locker but has understandably focused his his defensive basics til now.
  16. He has turned into a niggly little ****er and its the making of him.

    Nathan Redmond

Nowhere near what Redmond gets. If NR doesn't get at least 75% of POTS votes then it will be further evidence that he is measured by a different criteria than others. Without Redmond we would already be relegated. If we are relegated he will have no shortage of suitors who are better than Saints.

    Nathan Redmond

Very disappointing that people sat behind me last night were giving Redmond stuck whenever anything he tried didnt come off. The guy is our player of the season by an absolute country mile. Noticeable with some that a mistake made by Redmond versus a mistake by JWP, Hojbjerg etc tends to get a very different reaction. Thought that had been stamped out of the game, but lazy stereotypes remain unfortunately.
  19. The big problem is up front whetre bith Long and Austin are unselectable. Shows have far off Gallagher is that he doesn't get any game time ahead of these two. Would start Long as Austin is too immobile, but wouldnt suprise me if RH added Armstrong for Austin as he clearly doesn't trust either CA or SL and really both should have left a long time ago.
  20. Simce Hasenhuttl came in it has been enjoyable IMO. Poor results the last couple, but before that we looked a decent side and were getting good results.
  21. Relegation would be a financial disaster for a club like Saints with a big wage bill but relatively few stable assets. The value of the club would plummet so Gao wouldnt sell as he would lose so much money. He would more likely sell some players and then see if we could get promoted with a cheap squad. A far better scenario would be to scrape staying up and have Hasenhuttl sort the squad out in the summer. I trust him, he knows what he need and don't need. The club have already made clear they want to strip out the deadwood, replace with Academy players like Obafemi, Slattery, Valery etc and then have cash for a couple of game changer types. A good plan IMO, but obviously doing it is harder. All relegation does is make the aim to get back into the PL. So why leave in the first place?
  22. Just to check. In a huge game you would start: Marcus Barnes (one failed loan spell at Yeovil, no PL apps) Sam Gallagher (good spell at Blackburn two years ago, nothing since) Josh Sims (couldn't get in a dire Reading team) Really? Jesus.
  23. We lost away at Arsenal, who have only lost against Man City at home this season. What did some of you expect?
  24. By the time we play them Brighton will only be in big trouble if Cardiff have beaten them, which for Saints would be the worst possible result. Its clearly between us and Cardiff. Their home game tomorrow versus Everton is huge for us. If Cardiff win and we fail to beat Fulham then we could be well adrift by the end of March potentially. On the flip - if they lose and we win then it suddenly looks better again. We just have to beat Fulham.
  25. Mitrovic absolutely bullied Yoshida and Hoedt in the away game. Thats the key battle. Keep him quiet and we will likely win.
