  1. FAO Mosin - Please stop hijacking the thread talking about a different player, who has no relevance to this discussion. There is Redmond thread thats easy to find. Re the actual topic, what are your thoughts on the 5 points in the OP?
  2. Well, yeah because he is English, has loads of PL apps and seemingly Watford and Burnley wanted him in the summer, and may well still want him. We buy crap for decent cash so no reason for others not to.
  3. IMO JWP has gone backwards again so far this seaaon, and is probably as far away from being a regular starter as he ever has been. To me he looks like a player who needs a fresh challenge at a different club. 1. He has no actual position that he is selectable in, which is his main problem IMO. 2. He is one of the worst subs I can remember at Saints. You wouldnt bring him on when chasing a game and he is poor at protecting a lead. 3. His corners and wide free kicks are decent enough but not worth a place in the team alone. 4. He has the same weaknesses now as he did when he was 17: no pace, zero physical presence, always looks sideways before forward. 5. He is a player we could get decent money for and not miss at all. If another PL side would give us £15m then I would consider taking it, because he literally adds nothing at the moment, doesn't fit a 4-4-2 or 5-3-2 and its hard to ever seeing him kicking on, as so many have suggested he will.
  4. Our forwards without Ings look absolutely woeful. Imagine if we hadn't signed him! Should have let Long, Austin and Gabbi all go in the summer. But for this game I would do Long with Armstrong in behind.
  5. Ita fairly possible that when he was Stoke Manager Hughes thought Yoshida was always a weak link for Saints and he may have instructed his teams to target him. I think, and given Hughes summer comments, he just wants a more physical pairing.
  6. Was away so missed the Palace game. Last night it seemed to be mostly about the referee which is becoming something of a tired routine when we lose. Its so regular, its pathetic. Especially as it was a clear pen.

  8. 4/10 for me considering we havent played anyone good and had 3 home games that we have two points from. Will be bottom 6 for sure, deficiencies remain at both ends.
  9. That game is in a nutshell why we will be bottom 6 again this season. Three home games against poor sides and we have 2 points.
  10. Unchanged. Solid looking lineup. Shame as we planned for a 5-3-2 this season that we have zero wide players aside from Redmond and Elyounoussi so hopefully they go through the season without injury. Looks a more vibrant team than last year!
  11. Big game for our season. Win and we can possibly look up to the top half for the first time in ages. Lose and we will likely be in the bottom 6 for a long while. Draw is meh - likliest outcome IMO.
  12. Doing well for the U23s this season and looks a promising player with the mix of pace and power combined with finishing ability that is rare to find. Need to ensure he is tied down to a long contract.
  13. I was at Mane's debut in the cup at Arsenal where he was a big threat and it was clear (to me at least) that he would be a good player for us as he comittee defenders. Seem to remember a sublime Tadic assist on his debut at Anfield and pretty much being quality straight away. Certainly both showed far more initially than Moi has so far. Hopefully he gets a goal on Monday.
  14. Austin in hamstring injury shocker after the recent workload of a couple of sub appearances.
  15. Possibly Armstrong as a 10 and Ings up top?
  16. Possibly Armstrong as a 10 and Ings up top?
  17. Isnt it basically the same but with Gabbi for Long and Ings as a no 9 instead of 10?
  18. Hughes has had 12 PL games in which we have been average at best. Koeman delivered 7th and 6th. Poles apart.
  19. And only just noticed the utterly ludicrous bit about being on par with Koeman (7th inheriting a mess, then 6th), which points you out as clueless anyway.
  20. Far too soon to say he is better than Puel, and I agreed with the decision to sack him. Better in press conferences, but I would imagine fewer points per game for starters.
  21. You forgot Saints. Definitely in the mix.
  22. He is good at running and is a nice lad.
  23. League One is a massive step up from the U23 PL Second division. If he is going to make it at Saints then he will boss it at Burton...

    Nathan Redmond

His confidence looks to be improved this season so far, taking people on more. Hopefully has a breakout game soon with a goal or two and can kick on from there. Great cameo at Brighton, did exactly what you would want him to, looked sharp and really a class above everyone else.
  25. Suprised this didn't get a mention in the Fans Forum. Utterly dreadful squad planning to end up with a 3rd choice GK as one of your highest paid players.
