  1. Fans are desperate for consistency, we are vey consistent. We beat the teams worse than us and lose to those better. Not sure what all the fuss is about.
  2. Shame Dembele is back for them. He is a very good player.
  3. Is shaw's future intrinsically linked with MP's? MP staying will provide stability and encourage players to stay, but it won't necessarily ensure they do. Perhaps irrelevant, but is it more important that MP or Shaw is still here come September?
  4. There is still some way to go, but the phrase non league portsmouth has found its way into my consciousness and it has a nice ring to it.
  5. Something very cathartic about hearing Manish Bhasin say three consecutive relegations
  6. Away at bury the week after and then Plymouth come to **** park on the last day of the season, hopefully needing something, to ensure the skates go out of the league.
  7. I parked there a few years back and it took me hours to get away afterwards. Not sure I will ever do that again. Possibly I parked on the wrong side, or was unlucky, but it was a nightmare.
  8. now I know what will become of the Tesco Express on Goldsmith Avenue. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.794335,-1.064307,3a,75y,186.85h,86.55t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sAZT2ub-D_n5wILVtWqnreA!2e0
  9. The 85 kit is not made by Hummel, it's Patrick. Woeful journalism. Where is the 93-95 Pony home kit. That one is dreadful.
  10. ah well, like the poster above says, cherish this season, it was the perfect storm, its downhill from here.
  11. Interesting that Portsmouth University is looking to sell its Langstone campus site, where the skates currently train. If the fund were there this might make a pretty decent spot for a new ground development, although access is very limited. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/education/campus-site-could-be-sold-by-university-of-portsmouth-1-5940916

  13. perfect for that garage extension.
  14. I am all for it myself, but sadly I suspect there won't be any difference to the atmosphere as only one stand will be turned over to safe standing and we already have a stand (Northam) that stands the whole game. The only difference will be that a few less shins will be grazed and bruised by the backs of seats during goal celebrations.
  15. £130m in sponsorship deals means they can still chuck the reddies around, even without champions league football. If they come in for him they will increase his wages. If they bid enough he will go. Hopefully he has gone under the radar just enough.
  16. wouldn't objections such as increased traffic be well founded? I've read one or two of the objector letters to the council and that seems to be a common thread. I should imagine the letters of objection will follow a similar tack. 1000 is a hell of a number. I assume the quantity of objections is taken into account?
  17. it might be worth waiting until after the summer transfer window to see how committed players are to the new regime, but IMO if you keep paying the players enough wedge they will be more than happy to stay. There is a lot of chat about players wanting champions league football, but it didn't seem to worry Rooney and he's not alone. Pay top dollar and you keep the vultures at arms length. That's how Moyes kept many players at Everton - he paid them more than the going rate as we found out when Mikel Arteta left for Arsenal and had to take a wage drop supposedly.

    Cortese?

would the club have made a £900,000 profit if KL hadn't gifted the club £30m?
  19. without enough local support I don't think it will necessarily go through. After all the local people are the customers and if they say they don't need/want it, then I am not sure their plea can be ignored. My knowledge is limited to the BBC TV show The Planners, but these things seem to all end up going to an appeal. I suspect there are one or two nutjobs on here that can outline exactly how this process will play out? I'm also interested to know what result you all want.
  20. doesn't the new Tesco leave room for the hahaha impending £10m redevelopment of the North Stand?
  21. I note there is a comment suggesting 18k Pompey fans want the deal to go through. I am not sure if that is necessarily true. Just how reliant are they on the money they will receive if they build goes through? How much is it and when will they get it? If I am honest I don't think anyone living in that area actually wants the new Tesco. It's not needed. The island already has two large Morrisons, ASDA, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Lidl, numerous Tesco and Sainsbury's express and countless COOPs. In fact a new Kwiki Mart has recently opened on Goldsmith avenue, pretty much opposite **** park. Not to mention the huge Tesco at Port Solent and Sainsburys at Farlington servicing those entering the island. Other than supplying PFC with a handout I don't see a genuine reason for this Tesco at all. Not that the Island needs any more flats or houses, but shouldn't a brownfield site like this be used for housing? We keep being told how desperately short of housing we are...
  22. Not so sure Adam and Ramirez play well together. They eat each others space a bit.
  23. And west ham
  24. Ever get the feeling they are just making it too easy for us http://www.portsmouthguildhall.org.uk/events-in-the-south/new-theatre-royals-comedy-record-event-at-fratton-park
  25. I honestly will be bitterly disappointed if we let him go for less than £30m. I realise that's pretty much a world record fee for a left back, crazy money, and he might not be the best left back in the world, but in today's (Premiership) market that is the kind of money that should be required to get prise him from us. I know two transfers are never equal, but James Milner signed for City for £28.5m and that was 4 years ago. It won't be long before Shaw starts scoring goals and he will become a real game changer. He already is pretty much our bets attacking threat, Lallana apart and when is not in our side we really struggle to create chances. He's that important. When he leaves our team will be weakened. The squad might benefit, but the team won't. Man United are desperate for a left back, as are Chelsea. Man City could seriously do with an upgrade in that position IMO, so that makes him the hottest property out there.
