absolutely, we now need the right players to get us winning games. First stop a centre half, then a central midfielder, then two wide men and a pacey striker.

my football watching life won't ever be complete till that day comes. Even reading those `lyrics' makes me feel sick.

Jo Tessem on Trial next week (He's not really)(Actually he might be)
Chez replied to Bourno's topic in The Saints
think oaf-like rabbit caught in giant headlights. He only got about 5 minutes at the end of one match, but that was more than long enough for the entire stadium to see he was not up to the task - one that was lower than that of Davenport I might add. Poor guy, you had to feel sorry for him really and to think O'Neil moaned about him not getting game time whilst being here on loan. I wonder if he has found his feet yet. He'll probably turn out to be a decent player! -

not sure he was worse than O'Halloran -
can we put the dark down as a reason for so many misplaced passes?

no brainer leaving us for a premiership side. If Green gets injured then in he comes, and while he waits for that chance he'll double his wages. I know he wants to stay in the area as he kids are settled but thats quite a tough old commute isn't it?

Saints lifted by Swiss bid

transfer window closes end of August and there is still time after that to get loans in.

before his injury he was outstanding. He took a bloody long time to find his form again after it but in the final few games he got somewhere near his best and you could see he was on a different level to the rest of the side. The first touch is right up there with the best. His finishing needs to improve but its his link play that makes him attractive to teams higher up than us. In terms of his development he has only just been given the opportunity to show what he can do. I don't put that down to him not being good enough and I don't think that reduces his value much either. We all know he is not going to be here long unless we somehow turn ourselves into a promotion winnng side, so you'd better enjoy him while he's here because after him we are down to the dross.

Jenas Jenas went for 5m after one season at Forrest, Aaron Ramsey 5m after 16 games at Cardiff, Gareth Bale 10m after one season. These players were all tied to long term contracts and that ups the price. I think Lallana has that little extra something that makes him worth millions not hundreds of thousands

I know it's a meaningless game but I keep saying that Patterson looks the part to me. I'd be interested to hear a little bit more about how he performed if possible?

MLT was lazy and a genious. Stern John is lazy. Go on give it your best shot, spot the difference.

he's the best thing since sliced bread IMO. A player with real ability that is also more than happy to work and dive into tackles. He offers tremendous potential and that's why he is worth millions already. We must do everything we can to keep him at least for one more season as he is the last player left at the club that I actually think is worth watching.
-
2 votes for him in the poll at that times perhaps?
-
Clive Allan scored 40 odd goals in one season - Spurs must have won the league surely, er no. Conversey Kevin Davies scores **** all for Bolton yet he keeps them up each season. Out of interest do you think Wotton will prove to be an asset next season. I don't think I could have been more slating of him over the last 12 months, but after his showing at Bristol City I felt just a little bit of sympathy for him.

35 in November. Solid full back, and we need some of them, but a bit bloody slow. Nice balance of experience and youth with James and Murty fighting for that right back berth. Perhaps we need the same sort of older head at left back to complement Mills if we get him (and assuming Molyneux goes).
-
Actually I'm not sure Fry is duty bound to look at it. If (and this is the key) he has already established that they are fakers then it is in the best interest of his creditors to ignore them and concentrate on the bird in the hand so to speak so long as that offer appealed to the creditors.

I certainly appreciated what he did when he first started with us but with every game he did it less and less. Other than cross early using the left boot he did nothing. When he stopped doing that he did absolutely nothing. When he came back from injury he was worse than any other player. Worse than Smith. The other thing you have to remember is he played in the 4-3-3 formation so all he had to do was attack. In a 4-4-2 he's going to have to work up and down and I didn't see a lot of that, certainly not in the second spell. Perhaps that was down to lack of fitness, but I'm just as inclined to think that he doesn't have an engine. The problem is there is no on else now so I am going to have to learn to love him.
-
don't get me wrong I will judge him when I see him but the players you mention spent just a year or two at that club. Eboue was 19 at the time for example and was quickly snapped up by Arsenal. Our fella is 28 and has been knocking around Belgium for years failing to attract anyone. Slight difference.

I go to pretty much all the games thanks so yes I saw him, too much of him especially when he came back from injury. ****ing overated white boots ****e. So many fans get conned by the old white boots tactic. Flashy boots catching the sun and blinding them into thinking the player is actually tricky and pacey. I don't regard him as injury prone by the way, but the lad simply crossed a few decent balls in using his left foot and that was it. I think we must have spent the rest of the games rubbing our eyes in disbelief (that a Saints player actually got to the byeline and used the correct foot to cross the ball) so much so that this prevented us from seeing that he had usally disappeared after 30 minutes after one kick from a defender. I can't seem to help myself from being overly harsh on the lad, but when I see Surman and Lallana lambasted on here whilst others (probably not the same people I admit) are singing Holmes' praises it just annoys me. Watching Lallana give his all to make himself available and then tackle back whilst Holmes performs the slowest doggies in history between opponents makes me sigh. The drop in division will do him a massive favour. Slower, weaker less talented opposition is what he needs. My fear is the drop in not deep enough.

As I recall we were on a major downturn form wise at the time and looked like we were headed for relegation so it was the perfect excuse to get rid and bring Hoddle in.
-
I know I should think like this (football is in th enow not the future) but if we play Patterson all next season we will be devloping and putting in the shop window a player in just the same way we did with McGoldrick. That million has saved us if only for a while. If we snub Patterson in favour of John all we do is slow his progression down and risk him leaving for peanuts before he shines elsewhere. Patterson will be on peanuts and rest assured the new buyer is not going to have cash to splash.
-
very simplistic view of the game. yes you need goal scorers but if you effectivley play with 10 men you are always at a disadvantage. Perhaps there would have been a few less goals scored if we didn't have him in the side, but someone working harder defending from the front, chasing things down, making runs to turn defences might actually have reduced the goals against considerably and maybe we would have gained mroe points overall. We will never know, but I don't put our survival down to Stern John that's for sure. One more thing, we didn't need him - Rasiak offered just as much if not more and his additional wages have been a millstone round our neck (not the only one I know) that have dragged us into this financial mess. Not his fault of course.
-
I'd like to see us offload Rasiak and Saga (if neither want to be here) before we start adding to the squad otherwise we face another `why sign Forecast when we have 14 other keepers at the club' situation.
