  1. Holmes, Robertson and now Smith. It certainly looks like they are offering second chances to a few talented players. We have little choice but to go for young potential as they demand much smaller wages compared to established seasoned pros.
  2. I remember seeing him a couple of times for Leicester against us in the 05/06 season. I think he played in the FA Cup game at their place when KJ scored at the death. At that time he had a great reputation and was seen as another great player off the Arsenal youth development conveyor belt. I think he had some decent early games for Leicester, but he didn't really shine in the games against us and he faded for them in the end. He is clearly going to play left wing. Having tried Dyer, BWP and Robertson in that position and all have failed to impress, Jan clearly thinks we need someone else. A little strange seeing as we have Surman who could play there (with Gillett dropping into the centre) and especially Skacel who might flourish in a role that didn't require him to get up and down for 90 minutes. I wish him all the best and hope he enjoys himself here. Hopefully he is keen to impress.
  3. it looked a pen from the angle I had (from the itchen). I wondered why he got a straight red and now and I can see why, what muppet.
  4. since the QPR debarcle he has been played well on a regular basis. He has improved his distribution a great deal as well as taking charge of his area much better. This is not just over the last few months though it has been going on for ages and there have been a few on these boards that have backed him since then. A pity it has taken so long for many to spot what he has offered the side. Its not so long ago (when Richard Wright was here) that there were muppets saying we would have gone down if he had continued to play. Absolute poppy ****. He was having a great season before the broken thumb and might even have got player of the season.
  5. happy for the lad, not happy for the club. "you're on how much Adam? Hahahahah, you need a move move, you could earn three times that just to sit in our reserves."
  6. there are far too many idiots on here suggesting that adminstration would be a good thing. This theory needs to be put straight now and then otherwise before you know it it has become `FACT' on here. The only way out of the mess (without a major investor) is to cling onto this division with our fingernails for the next few seasons and with a much lower wage bill we can balance the books, reduce the overdaft and perhaps turn the corner.
  7. We won, we played some terrific football and supporters were thoroughly entertained. Have I won you over yet? Will you and your like be at the next home game? Will you ****. Stay away `fans' will only ever come back when we are challenging for promotion (if at all) not because supporters talk nicely to them on here.
  8. What a terrific game, it had absolutely everything. Great football, a sending off, chances at both ends, an amazing goal and some great saves. Once 2-0 up and a man in front we carved them open time after time with some delightful passing football. Their keeper made two world class saves that stopped it being a rout. I came away from the game with a huge smile on my face. I know Davis' great saves changed the game and the result could easily have been different without them, but I just want to bask in the glory of a wonderful home win. He's my points for those that give a ****. Davis - 9 the first 1 on 1 was a brilliant reaction save, the second great positional play. The one from the corner hit him more than anything. A couple of dreadful passes that put us in trouble. James 5 - skinned easily by the winger, looked slow, messed about with it at times instead of clearing his lines. Crap in the air. He improved as the game went on but for me he's not good enough at RB. Perry - 8 kept waiting for Siberski to chest it down then he nipped in and stole it time after time. Lancashire 7 - one tremendous long drilled pass out to the left turned defence into atatck and we nearly scored. Looks comfortable bringing the ball down. Tried to take the striker on when he was the last man and got caught. Terrible error that he must learn from. Mills 7 - gets the wrong side now and then, and last night found Croft a real handful, but I love the way he just gets stuck in. Gave a few fouls away but they we all in non dangerus areas and they let Croft know he was there. Great find. Surman - 7.5 If you are going to play a passing game then Surman is the sort of player you need in midfield. Got up and down and hussled well. He and cork look very similar from the back row. Cork - 7.5 another decent game in midfield and like Surman is wasted at the back. Can we get him for the season? Lallana - 10 Best game of the season for me. I have said it for a while now that if you are going to have a player in a free roll then you must supply him all the time. Last night we did and he was excellent. Even when a poor pass came to him he turned it into a good one with his great first touch. Looked a £5m player last night. McGoldrick - 7.5 offers James nothing defensively and from time to time he was far too casual. When things are going well he is a good player to have as he gets the ball down and plays. One tremendous cross with his wrong foot caught my eye. At home he's handy on the RHS but away from home I'd like to see a 4-4-2 Robertson 7 - Scored one of the best goals I have seen at SMS for years. Some decent touches and held the ball up well. He offered Mills no cover at all when playing on the left and was then moved inside. Pekhart - 6 - I didn't think he was doing that badly. He certainly played exactly the same at Donny. He is a tall lad but thats about it so far. BWP 6 - the left foot pile driver that hit the bar would have been an amazing goal. Thought he offered more support to Mills than Robertson.
  9. there were never 14,800 there last night. I thought closer to 12k
  10. many congratulations.
  11. Administration means bye bye to Lallana and Surman for peanuts, closure of the academy, selling off the land, the stadium and the training ground and more than likely a current encumbant buying 100% control of the club. What are you hoping administration will do?

why would Lowe wait for the price to hit a low before selling, or do you mean if we hit that low he would be willing to sell at the 44p (or whatever it was) price?

what short term loans/overdraft do we have in total?
  14. that side works for me.
  15. could save ourselves a few bob in wages and if we have ****ed up and signed a keeper we don't really need (perhaps because the Davis sale fell through) this would be a good way to advertise him and perhaps move him quickly on.
  16. the other club is Bistol City, so I'm told from a Barnsley supporting mate.
  17. I think the other club is Bristol City
  18. he and Eadie should never have been allowed to leave the club.
  19. Does that 958 include pay on the days like me as it felt like more than a 1000? I would say this though, how many of the 958 came up from the south? I think the `ex-pats' are a sizeable number and we get the same minimum level of support no matter how badly we are doing.
  20. I usually avoid these threads but there is little else on here at present. Anyway I agree with SoG when it comes to having no choice but to sell anyone that was on a serious wage and replace them with kids. I don't agree with the `Lowe is the only choice' line, but his large financial stake in the club means he is certainly committed to our survival (the most important thing surley?). I do go to games, so perhaps you wouldn't mind telling me what an incoming chairman should have done this summer? I must point out that I felt we should have kept Pearson so if that is your main arguement then I agree with you.
  21. what is his injury? I remember him coming off worse in an ugly 50:50 but he managed to continue to the end of the game.
  22. what exactly has Lowe and Wilde stolen?
  23. funny thats exactly what I thought and seeing as they pay some of their apprentices £75,000 a year up there it was probably harder to find one on peanuts than you think.
  24. James must be replaced for me. He is not good enough. Only Cork appears to be able to provide cover though which is a shame as he played well in midfield. Davis Cork Lancashire Wotton Fish Lallana Gillet Schneiderlin Surman John Pekhart
  25. on Shffeild radio the Barnsley fans said they are playing better without Howard and were unlucky not to be 3 or 4 nil up at half time on Saturday. that doesn't sound like a side that wants the manager gone but there will always be sone players not happy.
