  1. Quite. He's probably not a player that Lampard would be bothered about but right up Dyche's street, like signing Weighorst last January. Hopefully the Rasmus factor might gave some sway.
  2. The only thing I would say about Onuacho is why the fuck are we leaving that until deadline day? A bloody Genk player at 28. We should be able to table a decent bid to them and we can afford any salary he could expect. His chance to play Premier League and on top of that Rasmus knows him. Should be pretty straightforward. We could have got that done on New Years Day, not Deadline day.
  3. We're not going to pay 30m all in one go up front, that's mental. I imagine that is a negotiation position to placate their own fanbase.
  4. STOP RUINING IT
  5. Did we have exactly the same thought at the same time? #deathpact #thelma #louise
  6. If we don't sign Vitinha I will kill myself.
  7. Last time we managed to recruit someone with Champions League experience, plus top flight experience in one of Europe's Elite leagues (and also fighting relegation in that league), and that was under no-investment no-ambition etc etc Gao regime. It was hardly an unrealistic demand.
  8. All I would say is his chippyness is an act, you can see he is thinking about how he is seen and what people think of him in every single thing he does. He is fragile and needy as any manager I have ever seen. Not interested in the "we're not nice any more" stuff. Someone was on here saying "people don't come to St Mary's any more thinking we will roll over and let them win" or some such guff. On the back of 5 league defeats from 6. That, right there, is the power of PR over reality.
  9. Currently listening to Marquee Moon as I cook lunch. Lovely stuff.
  10. Not an over reaction from the manager then who is spouting off about things he can leave alone? Maybe as a professional Premier League manager he should be able to know that the words he uses will be interpreted and considered. He's not a competition winner who got this job by accident. Speaking to the media is part of the job. It's not all about putting cones out and wearing a terrible jacket.
  11. Nah. If he keeps us up by a point or GD then SR are vindicated and he will go into next season as a Premier League manager. If we go down then he has failed and SR have failed and he would have to go. The relationship with the fanbase who never wanted him in the first place will be toxic by then. (ie more toxic than it is now).
  12. I think some people need to stop making out that Jones is unique in incoming manager that he has inherited a difficult situation. No shit lads, that's pretty much 90% of new managerial appointments. Some managers come in in November, inherited a pile of shit and swiftly and competently turn thing around. Ralph Hasenhuttl from Hughes/Pellegrino for example. Some come in and make thing significantly worse. An inherited pile of shit becomes a mountain of shit. It's fair we were spoiled by how effective our last managerial switch was. We realise now that they all can't be as successful as that.
  13. I dont think the fanbase need to take lectures on approaches to not conceding by a man who has managed to deliver one fucking clean sheet since he's been here. He needs to drop the chippy know it all act. It's not the fanbase's fault that he is woefully out of his depth.
  14. I think you need to stop reading click bait articles that read like something generated by AI from various reports over the last three weeks.
  15. In the position we are in, and the opponents we have at home, this team is fine, and should be enough to get us in the old ball bag for the next round.
  16. To be fair the point is that in August Ralph was saying we were going to sign a first team striker. He wasn't saying "we've done that, its Mara, he's the striker we've signed". Everything about Mara at the time was about him being one for the future, absolutely not that he was the striker we were promised.
  17. Winning the "we didn't blink first" award is so much more satisfying than degrading ourselves by actually signing a goalscorer.
  18. And it's a really exciting deadline day here in St Mary's where newly appointed manager Paul "Eggy" Egginson has already stamped his ideas on the squad. The former Blyth Spartans boss has swooped to bring in former players "Smudge" Watkins, Johnny the Postman, Spanish Colin, "Leaky" Jenkins and Mick the Spark.
  19. You're quite right. It would take an incredibly brave Chairman to bring into Premier League Southampton a non league manager and a load of players also from non league. Very brave.
  20. Once he starts working with Premier League players like Che Adams and Adam Armstrong he'll really be able to get that down to a fine art.
  21. Honestly if you are seriously going to compare Sam Allardyce taking Notts County down to Division 4 25 years ago with Nathan Jones being appointed into a Premier League job in 2022 then honestly there is no help for you at all. Not even worth debating, it's an absolutely moronic point. Jones was hired not to take us down and then magically become a wonder manager later on, he was recruited to keep us up this season. You know, like Ralph Hasenhutl and your hated son-in-law approach did when he took over from Hughes. Funny how successful that was, and how dire your dream "aggresive" football has been so far.
  22. For someone whose opening opinion to me was "I prefer Nathan Jones to a Big Sam/Sean Dyche style manager" you are doing an incredibly good job of perfectly describing the attributes of a team managed by a "big Sam/Sean Dyche style manager". I think you need to admit that you like Nathan Jones precisely because he is a Big Sam/Dyche style manager and you and Duckhunter performing acrobatics to pretend that he isn't really is quite laughable.
  23. The January we got promoted we signed Billy Sharp to help get us over the line. He wasn't Premier League standard either. At least Burnley have now got got two forwards this forum can drool over because they are a oh-so-potent in the Championship and that means they're brilliant brilliant brilliant. I wish we had them to save our season etc. While at the same time, without any hint of self awareness whatsoever, also go on and on about how shit Armstrong and Adams are for us.
  24. We need as much money as we can get in the "we will spend it but only on the right player, if the conditions are right and we won't be held to ransom" kitty.
  25. CB Fry

    James Bree

Definitely one for the future. Next season, when we are in the Championship.
