  1. Hmmm. It might work but I don't think it will. For a start it means an election would have to be called. I can't see the Tories letting it go through and actually think they will scramble to the moral high ground "look at the Labour Party playing politics, don't they know there's a war on". The Daily Mail will of course go for that. I had a similar feeling the other day. The very minute John Major decided to come out and say that Boris needed to go now was exactly the minute he never was going to go now. The current Tories can still agree on some things: don't give Labour or John Major the satisfaction.
  2. Well, he was desperate to hang it out until the Conference which would have been another six weeks and got him a load of opportunity to do "see what you're giving up on" speeches and appearances/standing ovations, like some Elton John farewell tour. Well done to the 1922 Committee for cutting that out. It's an odd election. I don't know who is actually going to win, but I still feel I know plenty of names that definitely won't win. At least half the contenders are there as a profile raising operation to get into the cabinet.
  3. For some reason, the Acting Prime Minister gets to carry on until September 5th. An exciting new future for this country beckons. £xxx billions of tax cuts only a few weeks away, and with no impact on public services at all. It’s a shame they didn't do all this stuff before now. So, the leadership election is underway and, interestingly enough it isn't a simple first past the post which I was led to believe previously was by far the fairest and most effective way of running elections. Maybe not after all. Anyway this poll from an influential Tory blog is interesting. Big old Penny and, er, Kemi Badenoch seem to be most preferred by members. Riiiight.
  4. I think the most reliable evidence is that he says he is a Villa fan regularly on commentaries, and has been repeating that fact for years.
  5. Traditionally if you exclude Heath, Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron and May.
  6. He's a rent-a-quote partisan piece of shit. Everything that Boris has done he has come out with off-the-peg defence lines: "how could he possibly have remembered about Chris Pincher, he's a busy man...it's a load of fuss about a cake....etc etc" I think he was the prick that came out and said Nurses and Teachers were all having after work beers all the time throughout the pandemic. If it was Boris having a beer he'd be on the airwaves yabbering on about how everyone needs a beer and whats all the fuss about. Of course Starmer does it and he's right out the gate with what a disgrace it is. Utterly predictable horseshit. Basically our Batman with a tie and stupid hair.
  7. It's an elected role so she is in place as a result of the will of the people of that area. The process and role was introduced by the Conservatives. It's called democracy mate.
  8. Seems unlikely.
  9. I'm delighted Boris is going you fucking weirdo.
  10. Raab has already done the Caretaker job twice when Boris had Covid, so he is already established as the Tony Parkes of the UK Government.
  11. Never has anyone in history been less suited to the "I tell you what, I'll stay on for a few more months and then I'll definitely go honest I will". He wants a war, or a natural disaster or a pandemic or some other shit that just means he can say he is Prime Minister for a bit longer. Anything to cling on.
  12. Thanks for the job as Chancellor and everything but
  13. Still seeing commentators still on about "Boris could just go for a general election" like he can just go and run that by himself like a Twitter poll.
  14. His missus is going to tell him to jack it in overnight. That, and probably some more senior resignations. He did already but he just looks like a massive prick now.
  15. When do we get to start panicking about how all these new players will take four months to gel into a functioning team?
  16. Will no one think of the poor Ukrainians?
  17. along came Zippy, who got a bit lippy, so Bungle filled him in.
  18. It's pretty amazing how "incoming" focused this window is. It feels like we are actually trying to strengthen now, rather than play risky too-clever games in the last week of the window. I know Forster and Broja (and Long) have gone but none of those are sell-to-buy departures. Not been like this for a long time. That said, please get a really good striker.
  19. I'm impressed by anyone that calls me by my original (too long) username.
  20. No idea what anyone is worried about. No-one with the name "Tyler Dibling" is going to make it as a top professional footballer. Sounds like the class dweeb in a 1980s teen drama. Ridiculous. It's like having a modern footballer called Lionel.
  21. I look forward to you enthusiastically linking lots and lots of Skwawkbox articles in the coming months. Because you will do that, won't you? Jesus wept.
  22. I think I read somewhere it is someone who used to play for us. Danny Higginbotham maybe. Edit: sorry checked Wikipedia. It's Tahar El Khalej.
