Now is probably the appropriate time to admit that I also post under the name "Whelk". And Hypochondriac. And AlwaysSFC. And HelpMeRhonda. And pimpiniz4real or whatever it is.

Such a pointless argument. Apparently the Luther character wasn't developed as a black man, they just got the best actor for the job during casting. ....which is the exact same argument used when the debate of the day is "of course James Bond can be black". See no colour, find a great actor. This stuff is completely self-defeating.

The minute we ticked over into 29 points in January we were clearly safe. We were never going down from that point. I remember saying stuff at the time like "even if we lose ten in a row we won't go down". I didn't expect to be proven right in that way but there you go. As someone else said we've had a Crystal Palace like season: rack up the points in half a season then cruise/collapse/stagger over the line. They've done that a few times now, and we've done much the same.

The main problem with Southampton Football Club, and I've said this many times, is that we sign too many rubbish players when we need to be only signing good players. I don't understand it.

Stockpiling happened in anticipation of the ball-ache of the Brexit changes so is in the debit column, not the credit column.

I don't accept the premise that Ralph is a helpless victim who needs to be helped out by blessing him with new backroom staff. Its his backroom team, he's accountable for the decisions made and the advice he listens to. The idea we are now a hostage to this manager because we cannot afford to sack him is madness. I understand your argument, like you say, it's not difficult to understand. But it is absolutely ridiculous. I don't want to sack him right now but not for that reason.

We've lost 11 out of 14 with the worst record of 2021 because of Dave Watson? Do me a favour. Just a cop-out. At the end of the day Ralph's standing in the club is strong enough to have elbowed out Dave and Kelvin if he'd wanted to by now. The first team backroom staff is his accountability as much as the team on the pitch.

I cannot imagine the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to be anything other than a thick pink liquid like baby lotion.

It is still perfectly possible for us to beat Leicester in a one off game. I'd like to see Che back in the team, and not sure Diallo has earned his place, but difficult to drop him without disruption elsewhere (ie moving Armstrong back). But as someone has already said, it feels inevitable that it will just be an unchanged side from yesterday.

I was listening to some podcast or other and there was a discussion about things that the journalists notice now they are physically at games with no fans. Things that you'd never realise in a full stadium. And one journalists observation was that Ward Prowse is an absolute little shit. Pretty sure they used that exact phrase. Constantly giving lip out all match, like a Brad Haddin style Aussie wicket keeper, just constant stream of little digs dished out to opponents all match. And of course we've all seen little bits of his shit-housery from time to time. I know there are people that have just decided he's a vicar's son wouldn't say boo to a goose type, because they decided that many years ago and will never change their mind. But there is probably another side to the story. The other side being, you know, reality.

Brendan Rodgers went to Leicester, which was the most high profile recent post-old firm role. Strachan and Lennon went to the Championship. No Rangers managers have been anywhere as all shit. Doesn't really matter how well Howe does, he'd come back to England to take a job, at best, at a club like us/Palace/etc. He'll come back to England as the guy who relegated Bournemouth.

Long way to go to beat Dave Jones second season total of 41 points. That's the season we stayed up on the last day. Adkins/Poch delivered 41 points also. Obviously Dave's first season (48 points) feels a bit of a stretch now, as does Puel's (46). Still, at least he's entertaining us, or something.

We can only hope that we follow up a defeat with, er, another defeat?

More goals conceded than Sheffield United.

Jankewitz would have buried that.

How many would we have won by if Jankewitz had started the game? I reckon it would've been five or six.

Some kid who has been hyped up to oblivion by a few people on this forum is not going to make the slightest difference here. WBA will be about 20 times better than some U21 team this nipper has played against.

When was the last time we came back from three nil down to win?

We're going to win the cup We're going to win the cup And now you're gonna believe us And now you're gonna believe us And now you're gonna be-lieve us We're gonna win the cup

It's times like this that we miss Shane Long.

When was the last time we came from two nil down to win?

I knew we'd lose.

This one, for example, just does not work. Just a barrage of pop ups and bullshit you don't get with hesgoal.
-
So hesgoal.com seems to have moved entirely to Dutch commentaries now. Annoying, as was, up to a couple of weeks ago, the most reliable and faff free streaming service.

Great to see. Get the job done early so we can bring on the likes of Adams and Djenepo - if they can come on and score goal number five and six then they can stake a claim for a Wembley starting place too.
