Bazunu and McCarthy are not third choice keepers for a Championship club. If nothing else we can't afford them to be. They would not ever have been "bumped down the pecking order". If we had any intention of buying a first choice front line keeper in the summer then Bazunu or McCarthy would have been shipped out. I expect one of them to be shipped out now.

To be fair most clubs have a third choice keeper who is just squad filler. It's not some Sport Republic thing. I don't quite get the grief about Long. He was brought in for a very specific set of criteria, being cheap one of them. I would think we will move on McCarthy or Bazunu to another club. McCarthy is towars the end of the contract and probably a perfect candidate for the third choice dossing about role at a Prem club.

Let's see how often QPR play him midfield.

He's played fewer than 10 first class club games since August 2023 (the beginning of our Russell Martin season). So he might take some time to get up to speed with the Championship.

You know the same people hired Juric and Still, right? They don't get drafted into Southampton out of nowhere. It's just people deciding on a conspiracy theory and disregarding anything that doesn't fit it.

The idea that Juric and Nathan Jones (for example) aren't "strong willed" is ridiculous. Russell Martin was /is very stubborn. They are just appointing the wrong candidates for the role. I know it is a favourite topic on this forum but I think the idea that there is some overarching dominant vision that is driving everything is being massively overplayed. Jones then Martin then Juric then Still don't even play the same way. It's all far more scattergun than some are making out.
