Two down, so just a battle for one relegation spot now. All in all a good weekend.

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/brexit-deal-vote-theresa-may-second-referendum-vote-election-yvette-cooper-a8736216.html?amp&__twitter_impression=true This will take us to the endgame, which I believe I predicted broadly something like this on this thread several weeks ago. A version of the May deal - not particularly different to how it is right now - will get through because it will eventually win more support than all other options. No deal will not happen, and once the swivel-eyed MPs understand this and can feel the hot breath of a second ref/a general election/A50 extension coming, they will vote the deal through. Rees Mogg has already started the groundwork. He will vote Deal vs every option that stops Brexit. The Endgame is coming, and May's robotic repetition will prove to be broadly the correct strategy in the context of the most stupid thing this country has ever done, of course.

Yes. Mentioned above but this weekend saw Newcastle win and put the final nail in the coffin of the moronic idea that 5 wins would be enough for a team to stay up this season. All teams from 18th up already have 5.and it's January.

Just German and Dutch project fear. They all survived World War Two so surviving another country leaving the EU really should be an absolute piece of pi ss.

I suppose the only risk is there night be a bit of a scrap for the last place which could generate a few more points, but I agree 38 should be fine. From here, we just need Cardiff to nicely collapse and the bottom three could be done and dusted come mid-March. Boring, but good for us.
-
Not that anyone was in any doubt, but yesterday it was confirmed that it is impossible to stay up this season with only five wins as every team from 18th upwards already has five wins, and it is only 20th January with a mere 15 games and four months remaining in the season.
-
8 points, assuming we don't win all of those "winnable" games (a safe assumption, as stuff just happens). But that's still plenty to stay up - 30 points with 10 games to go, and we'd still be out of the bottom 3. Anything more than 8 and we genuinely do start looking up not down.

I think the important thing to do is to put all the groundwork in during pre-season.

We have gone through the grand total of zero transfer windows in the post Reed era so really rather early to make any judgements. We haven't signed anyone yet so let's at least give it another couple of weeks.

Great scouting = great signings.

Seen on Twitter... Points won after their first 23 league games in charge of Everton... - Roberto Martinez: 42 - Ronald Koeman: 37 - Sam Allardyce: 34 - Marco Silva: 30 #worsethanpuel #fraud #glasgowkissofdeath #belovedtoffeemen

Luton have lost their manager though so could also start wobbling.
-
Decent result against an expensively assembled but pitifully mediocre team. Well done Ralph, great goal JWP.

Fingers crossed for your beloved Toffeemen today x x x

Sad to see my daughters' home town represented by no-deal cheering idiots on QT last night. Slugs cheering for salt. Anand Menon was rather excellent on the panel, though.

Turkish didn't make that post. His son did it while he was out of the room.

I thought Corbyn was well known for sitting down and talking things through with people he doesn't agree with.
-
Unquestionably this is Dave Watson's fault.

Redmond you plank.

We should be VARing all these pens.

It's nights like this we really miss Dusan Tadic.

Theresa May announces she cashed out at 89 mins and is a tidy £147 up. #insurancebet

JWP, free kick specialist. His chance to shine in front of people expecting to watch the news.

I want to see me one of them sweet, sweet Cedric penalties.
